Rudolph's Story
Born Rudolph Howell on the farm in Pikeville NC, township of Buckswamp (honest thats what it says on my birth certificate), years 2 till 12 St. Louis, Mo., then it all started with the way west and American Graffiti adventure, glad we moved to LA. I dedicated my teen years to work, money and the very best friends one could have "Low Riding-Cruising" years of my life, with the best coolest cars in San Gabriel Valley. Man that was long ago. Thank God for memories. I still see ya TC, tring to get into the school parking lot. After high school, a short but wonderful marriage. Married again and 29 days later it was time for the Nam experiance of being in country (USN Seabees) 3yrs. 3 months & 8 days, I traveled to the garden spots of the world, Port Hueneme Ca., 1st Marine Air Wing Da Nang Vietnam, Brunswick Maine Naval Air Staion, and out. Served as a UTW-2--(made water). Back to LA for a time and our baby girl was born (Brandy Moniec)1970, we moved north to Redding Ca., Old Shasta. GI Bill paid for apprentiship schooling and I became a Plumber. 1973 our son (Joshua Donavan) was born. We moved to Gold Beach Oregon, and I worked for the Port Of Brookings. Started a couple of businesses, one with a big Oklahoma boy (Woodsman Log Homes)and built log homes from scracth. The Oregon Coast is the most picturesque place in the US. 1975 moved back to Redding went into the plumbing business with my father-in-law (never recommed this to anyone of intelligence). 1980 moved...Expand for more
to Midland Tx. Great downhome patriotic people those Texans, awesome brisket but man the land is real real bad in west Texas. Promised our children when & if we moved it would be to San Diego, went to work for the City of Coronado in 1987 as a pump mechanic and many night schools and idiot make-up classes later, I now have a position I can't describe without feeling guilty (blessed again). I'm sure I missed a few places, given my age and all--forgive me please! I retired once for 10 days but it is real hard to leave paradise. Our Daughter and 3 grandbabies are near but I'm sure they will move back to Humboldt somewhere in the woods. Alexia (17) graduates soon and Brandy graduated from Humbolt U. and is a woman of the land (some kinda shaman I think). She gave birth to my grandbabies at home with midwifes. Joshua lives in San Fransico but we have a very close family. I know my kids love me because they said they would take me to the mall, give me some peanuts and one-way sun glass(to check out the girls) and the bigest thing was a promise not to forget where they left me. Honestly I feel I've done everything, been everywhere (and thank God I lived through it)and have sooo very much. Yet to accomplish: Every food festival in America, Mardi gra, New Orleans, Strugis S.D. bike run, see the Aurora Borealis, and to see the Sistine Chapel in my wheel chair. have Great Grandlitte ones. Enough of me. Please call or say hello and we'll party before it's to late. Rudy
