Russ's Story
Hello to all former Middleton High School Razorbacks!! I was in the original freshman class at Middleton in the 1970/1971 school year. After my Sophomore year in 1972, I moved away from Charleston for Athens, Georgia where I eventually became a Georgia Bulldog. I view my time at Middleton as the best school years of my life. I have visited Charleston twice in the last few years and visited the school both times. I was disappointed that it is now a middle school. Today, I own two LLC Corporations. But, I am not making the big bucks just yet. One is a website called DOTPATTERNS.COM!! I sell digital dot patterns to graphic artists. Check it out. I could use the hit to help me get off of page 5216!! Heh. Heh. The other is "Cartoons by Russ Calhoun, LLC." I was a cartoonist for many years in weekly newspapers. I had over 800 cartoons published and had national notoriety three times. Originals of my work were requested by Kim Basinger, Rush Limbaugh, and the late Paul Harvey. ue of the Limbaugh Letter. It is known as the "Guru On The Mountain Top" cartoon. I am now preparing to submit a cartoon strip for national syndication in March 2010. Even though my cartoon characters are protected by registered copyright, I am not yet prepared to show them publicly. I am very protective of both the characters and the content. I have shown them privately on a few occasions and gotten great feedback. I recently took a portfolio of my characters to a party to show to a group of friends. My cartoons and their characters ended up dominating conversation the rest of the evening. I have made some private cartoons for friends with the condition that they are not widely distributed. It has the potential to be enormously successful world wide. As I get closer to publication, I will have samples on them on the internet. When that time comes, I will consider giving all of my 24, that's right, 24 characters their own Facebook pages. I can be found on Facebook. I am easy to find. I am the only Russ Calhoun sitting in a red Ferrari 360 Spider. Heh. Heh.
