Russ's Story
I could not stay away from the ranch but (Sold 2018), computer software, Travel and following the path of wanting all new gadgets & seeing something I have never seen.
Life is a privilege and I want to enjoy as much as possible.
I enjoy so much traveling to places, which I have never been or seen and often never heard of or about.
Life travel is the greatest education a person could ever receive.
I retired in 2004 and did full time ranch work until 2006 when the place was leased with myself keeping about 100 acres to run a few mother cows to keep me busy doing something meaningful. I enjoy being retired and never miss anything other than meeting the many new folks where ever I would do consulting.
I lived in a small town and the only folks I were when I would be on a bike trip. Galveston Island brought me close to many tourist (unfortunately most younger). I traveled back and forth several times each month especially during the winter months, until selling The Ranch home & property.. o leave with a promise to myself to never return to the misery of loneliness and cousins whom rarely acknowledged my presence/existence..
Life at Galveston Island is good weather, ocean every day and many places to dine. Medical facilities are abundant with University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) just down/up the street. A visit several times each week down Seawall Blvd is a must with beach goers galore, ships coming into the Port of Galveston & Port of Houston & fishing boats/piers over most of the Island.
A trip to the mainland is always an adventure with great shopping and More places to dine just minutes away across the bridge or by ferry boat.
I hope to revisit all the many cities I once lived/worked as an IT Consultant over my forty year career. I try and remain in touch with a few coworkers in most places to give me purpose for a visit and perhaps a lunch at an old lunch spot.
My health is better now and I hope to stay in contact with a few of my High School acquaintances when possible. I know everyone has moved on and most have families, something I relinquished in order to travel/work extensively.
I do hope to hear from others of my earlier Perryton days.
