Russell's Story
I find it absolutely hilarious that the very thing that I skipped regular classes to do has given me a career and taken me around the world...and I wasn't really good at it.
There were others who were exceptional and in a perfect world would be telling this story.
TBC...
I'm happy about the way my life is continuing to unfold. There have been a LOTS of ups and downs, personally and professionally. As it goes...that's life and that's the nature of my business. I have a beautiful family and watching my children play soccer or make artwork for the homeless guys at the park can easily bring me to tears. My wife is a writer so working hard and giving her the time to complete a script or finish a magazine article is a testament to the 50/50 or 80/20 it takes to make it as a team.
I've lived in New York (6 years), and briefly in D.C., London and Spain before settling in Los Angeles for the past 12 years. I miss home...a lot, but even with it's volatility I wouldn't trade my work for anything.
With that being said, I can go on an...Expand for more
d on about where I've been and what I've done but I don't see that as important as being a successful single parent, a teacher or someone who provides assistance or a service for others.
Don't get me wrong... a standing ovation on opening night in a packed theater, even after 20 years, leaves me breathless and humble. It's orgasmic, even gratifying but what I'm most proud of is the volunteer work that I and my family have done and continue to do.
And though I've experienced some grief and a few disappointments the one regret I have is hurting or letting down people who believed in or trusted me. I was young and trying to fit in, impress people or belong to things that even now I can't remember what they were. I'd like to blame it on "growing pains" but I was actually a very insecure young man.
With academic "stops" at Fondren, Albert Thomas, Westbury, Northwest Academy and finally Ross Shaw Sterling I've met a lot of people but summers in South Park, doing "The 4 Corner" at SPN and Albert Thomas Pep Rally's were legendary.
