Russell Eugene Theisen:  

Life Russell Eugene Theisen, Known as (Gene) Theisen, in High School, was elected to G.H.S. Hall of Fame in 2003. He now goes by his first name, Russ Theisen; -pronounced (Tyson). Russ has retired three times; 1-USMC [1966], 2-Martin Marietta Orlando Aerospace [1992] and, 3-Sanmina-SCI Systems Inc. in [2003]. He is Listed in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering 1996-2014, Marquis Who's Who in America 1995-2016, Marquis Who's Who in The World 1998-2013, Marquis Who's Who in Finance and Industry 1995-2009, ---- American Men & Women of Science 1996-2009, Empire Who's Who and the International IT Who's Who and several others. Russ was the Software Quality Manager for the Technology Divisions of SANMINA-SCI Corp. They employ some 42,700 people in some [97] electronic manufacturing services plants, located around the world. Russ, married Mary Ann Asbury from Memphis, Tenn.(1963). They had a [son] Timothy Mark Theisen born in (1965) and a [daughter] Yvette Marie Theisen born in (1968). Both Children have graduated college, and now have families of their own. Tim Lives in Houston, Texas and Yvette lives in Colorado Springs,CO. Russ and Ann are proud grandparents of [three], Cameron Michael and Lydia Ann and Deserai Marie Mihaly. Russ served [13 ] years with USMC (R), there he instructed, in (32) electronic and military technical schools. After receiving his BSEE, He worked as an Electrical Engineer for IBM in 1964. He helped develop the IBM-360-20 Main Frame Computer. He was a Manufacturing Plant Manager for Compton Industries 1965-66, and Professional Engineer and Program Manager at General Dynamics Electronics Division in 1974. From 1966 to 1992 He was a Reliability Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Sr. Test Technology Engineer, Sr. System Software Analyst, Professional Staff member, Program Manager and Professional Engineer for Martin Marietta Aerospace (MMA) in Orlando, Florida from 1966-1992. He retired from [MMA] in (1992). Until March, 2003, Russ worked for SCI and then SANMINA-SCI Systems Inc."the world Premier [EMS] Electronic Manufacturing Services company". He was Documentation and Information Manger, a Certified Professional Manager and Professional Engineer. He was instrumental in Development in 4 Technical Publications and several IEEE Standards Development and the introduction of ARPA-NET e.g. World Wide Web and [PROFS E-Mail] in both the Executive Offices of the White house and both houses of Congress. He is active in both professional and civic organizations. He is now retired and doing well. Russ was the National Director of the Theisen Clan. In 1969 - 1973 Russ was the President of Winter Park Pines Community Association of Florida. He led the Community Associations to establish the first Lighting District, by surveying the community for street lights, and getting them installed by the County. And the First Fire Insurance District by surveying the community of about 1200 and making sure a fire hydrant was withing 500 feet of every home. By taking a builder to court for his shady and illegal activities. And taking it all the way to the Florida State Supreme Court, an winning,in 1970 and 1971. Also for establishing the first [PUD] Planned Unit Development Zoning in the state of Florida. The most significant development in the next 15 years, will be the nano technology. Here, the chemistry, nano-robotics, nano-medicine, and nano-electronics will be combined. Amazing things will be emerging. If our Government does not screw things up. -- School Russ liked Math and Science in High School. He worked as a wrestling coach assistant, a tumbling team member, Stage Crew member, Science Club member, and JV Football defensive player. Russ worked for the Virginian Pilot as a morning news carrier to earn spending money. He had over 250 customers. His route extended from Hampton Boulevard Bridge at the Lafayette River, to West Little Creak Road in Norfolk, Virginia. Several of his classmates were from families of his customers. After School Russ worked in the Radio and TV Repair business at MasterCraft Inc. MasterCraft was located at 1202 West Little Creek Road in a building which he also helped build from scratch. Including making by hand each cement/cinder block used in the building. His father built a manual cement/cinder block making machine and Russ made over 2,000 cement blocks using that machine. Russ recalls getting up at 4:30 AM every morning for 364 days a year, for 4 years, to get the newspapers delivered by 7:30 AM, in order to get to school by 8:00AM. The afternoons were taken up with trying to collect the 40 cents per week from the Virginian Pilot customers. You would not believe how many customers claimed not to have the 40 cents and would have him come back 3 or 4 times for his weekly pay. This significantly limited his social and night life. Russ earned enough money to buy his first car. A 1936 Plymouth that he painted metallic Blue with a Chinese Red stripe down the side. The paint store had a sale on unclaimed paint. I remember many teachers at Granby High School. I took typing from Mrs Fanny Thomas. She told me that if I promised not to make a carrier in typing she would pass me, since I was docked 10 words for every spelling or typing mistake. I reached 120 words per minute, but the course required 160 words per minute to pass. I could get 180 words per minute but my typing errors and spelling errors would always knock me back down to the 120 word per minute rate. I enjoyed Mrs. Adams math class and did very well in math. Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Boggs were teaching Science and Biology. I did OK except for spelling of names. I still have trouble with spelling and grammar. Miss Knight, my English teacher tried her best, but I was a lost cause. Billy Martin, the wrestling Coach, wanted Russ/Gene to quit his jobs and spend full time Wrestling, but the family business could not spare him the time off. Russ did learn the building trade and electronic TV and Radio, communications trade which has helped him significantly during his Electrical Engineering carrier. Russ joined the United States Marine Reserve, while he was in High School in 1953. He did this to serve the Required Military Obligation and to train with the best. [Semper Fi]. He was the first Six month USMC Reservist to go through Parris Island Boot Camp. He stayed in the USMC until 1966 training Marines in Electronics, and other Military skills. He gained over 10,000 hours of in class training, (6 years) of technical and Military classes. He left the USMC(R) when he became a Registered Professional Engineer and when he worked as a plant manager at Compton Industries in Vestal, N.Y. He built a Federal Aviation Authority [FAA] metrology Laboratory and Calibration Center. He then had to leave town to build Calibration and Certification centers in Raleigh, NC and Cherry Hill, NJ. Russ attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) Norfolk, VA division and Old Dominion University earning a BSEE in 1962. He attended the University of New York at Binghamton,NY, Florida State University, Rollins College where he earned MBA in 1972. After receiving his BSEE, He worked as an Electrical Engineer for IBM in 1964 where he helped develop the first solid state computer, the IBM-360-20 Mainframe Computer. He was a Plant Manager for Compton Industries in 1965, and a Program Manager for Test Technology at General Dynamics in 1974,where he helped develop [GPS] Global Positioning System Ground Acceptance Equipment and other earth orbiting satellites and Ground Support Equipment. From 1966 to 1992, He progressed from a Reliability Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Sr. Test Technology Engineer, Sr. System Software Analyst and Professional Staff member for Martin Marietta Aerospace (MMA) in Orlando, Florida. He retired from [MMA] in (1992). Russ, has now retired from SANMINA-SCI Systems Inc."the world Premier [EMS] Electronic Manufacturing Services company".
