Life
Russell McDuff is Professor and Director of the University of WashingtonÂs School of Oceanography. His research involves understanding the movement of heat and materials between the ocean and the underlying ocean crust, using approaches at the interface of marine geology and geophysics, chemical oceanography, and physical oceanography. Technology and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of California at San Diego. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he joined the UW faculty in 1981. He lives in Snohomish with his wife Tobae, a neurologist in private practice, and two sons Daniel and Mark.
An avid skier and mountaineer, he is a Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance certified instructor.
