Russell's Story
It has been an interesting journey. After DHS started going by my middle name, Scott, or RS, or R Scott, depending on who I am talking to. Graduated Essex C.C., U. of Denver (BA psych), New York Univ. (MA counseling), U of MD College Park (PhD counseling psychology). Licensed psychologist since 1986. US Navy Submarine Service 2 yrs active duty, 4 yrs reserves. Served on a Fleet Ballistic Missile submarine and a diesel boat as a sonar tech, STS2(SS). Psychologist, MD Army National Guard 2 yrs. Psychologist, MD Air National Guard 2 yrs. Retired Lt Col, USAF. Have had a variety of mental health jobs, civilian and military. Last clinical job was at Howard AFB, Republic of Panama. The hospital on Howard served all military service members, their families and the civilians working in embassies throughout Central and South America. I was the deputy commander of the Medical Operations Squadron, responsible for all out-patient and in-patient mental health services, child & family services, the family advocacy program, the family practice clinic, pediatrics, ...Expand for more
and the emergency department. Most of my time in the AF was in jobs related to planning, executing or teaching psychological operations and Information Operations. Last assignment in the AF was at the AF Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. I am currently a contractor conducting behavioral influences intelligence analyses and producing psychological profiles on bad guys (remotely of course). Married 30+ yrs to the lovely (and very patient) Rita. Two daughters, 3 grandkids. We have had a mastiff and a clumber spaniel and currently have two "designer dogs" Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Miniature Poodle mixes (Monk & Oscar from two different breeders with very different personalities). We have down-sized considerably since the mastiff! We live outside of Dayton OH in a house we could never afford in the Baltimore/DC area. Do not miss the traffic congestion or the merchant/mechanics trying to pull a fast one. Do miss Jim and Betty Rogers whom I have known since 1969 ... and the occasional pit beef sandwich, bull roasts and steamed crabs.
