Ruth (Mickie Nelson)'s Story
After high school I took a few classes at De Anza, but got married in '75 and became an instant mom to my husband's 5 year old daughter. A few years later our first of three sons was born, followed by two daughters. My oldest son, Chris, is now 35, and has a wife and 2 daughters. My second son, Brett, is 32 with a wife and 3 boys and they are expecting their first daughter this August. My third son, Adam, is 30 and has a wife and one son and one daughter. arried June 15th. So that makes me a grandma of 7, going on 8.
I have worked in a variety of fields over the years, everything from dental/ orthodontic assisting, childcare/preschool teacher/director, cook for 150 children to Senior Tech Support for Apple. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Business/HR Management in 2008, after many years away from school, which was a bit daunting, but fun too!
My husband and I separated 3 years ago, and I moved to Kentucky for a "do-over" near my oldest son. I do expect I will move back out west one of these years, but for now, I am very happy here.
