Ruth's Story
Life and Career:
Graduated from Terry Sanford H.S. 1970, same month my dad retired from the Air Force.
My family moved back to Michigan and I graduated from Delta College School of Nursing in 1974. I remained single until I was 32 and had my heart broken more times than I care to recall. I met and married Tom Hurst in 1985 and had my first child Elizabeth. My second child, Eric, came along in 1987. I worked full-time for 42 years, most of which was spent in the Cardiac Cath Lab. ent for 14 years, but finally grew to despise it and returned to staff nursing in the Cath Lab. I did get halfway to a Bachelor's degree at Central Michigan, but quit when I gave up management. I retired in 2016 and couldn’t be happier. I now have two adorable grandchildren who live in Indiana with my son and his wife Clorissa. My daughter and her husband Josh, live in New York. Since retiring, we have traveled to Ireland and Hawaii and spend considerable time in our various gardens and remodeling our home.
