Ruthie's Story
My name is Ruthie Francis, I attended Paradise Valley High School from Jan 1966 to around Feb of 1968. I participate in any activities I could get into such as tennis, archery, GAA, etc.
My father died in August 1967, and then my mother left town. I tried to take care of my brother and sister while my mother left town. That was extremely hard, for I worked on the week - ends for a small amount of money. Cindy Dawson¿s dad gave some gas to help me get threw the week. This gave me enough gas to transport my siblings to school. Well, it all came to an end when some told the school authorities.
My mother came back home and moved us to Alamosa, Colorado. My brothers, sister, and my self where made to work from early morning to very late at night. My older brother came with us. I cooked for over 20 people. That meant cutting up the wood, starting a fire, cook, and clean up all before the school bus came. I did my school work on the bus or it didn¿t get done. I repeated the same thing for dinner. Then we would work late in the evening running potatoes or hay. I had to lift over 100 lbs. at one time. On the week end we herded sheep besides doing our normal duties. My brother and sister was going threw the same time I was. hs. I was praised at the high school for gymnastics, and playing the drums in band. On my lunch hour I ran over to the College, and taught tennis to the college students.
Well, that all came to an end around Jan 1969. I walked away from every one, and took a bus back to Phoenix. From here I attended Tolleson Union High School, and ended up teaching gymnastic to the students. I did graduated in May of 1969. I had to make up classes to graduate such as Arizona Government.
I married Richard K. Bond, Sr. in Jan of 1970. We meet at Glendale Community College and where married in three months. We had two boys named Richard, Jr. and Robert. My oldest child has three boys, and my youngest boy has a little girl. Richard, Sr. has passed on Nov 2000.
I worked for ASU as a Property Control Manger for 8 years, and 22.3 years with Arizona Dept. of Transportation as an Transportation Construction Tech IV. I have also worked an overhead crane operator for Marathon Steel Company. I am classified as an welder mechanic, etc. I ended up in several Who¿s Who Books. Now, I retired from the State of Arizona.
My goals for now is to fine a job, and a golf partner. I live in Apache Junction, Arizona. I¿m schedule to start school in September.
