Ryan's Story

Life Not much to say. I'm looking at a career as a franchisee so I can be my own boss. No wife, no kids (aside from my cat). I've still got the vast majority of my hair, and only a slight beer belly. I'm considering becoming a Taoist, and even though all the polls call me 40% conservative there's a good chance I'll die of old age without ever voting Republican. Heterosexual, but no significant other at the moment. Any other questions? School Geez, where do I start? I'm not going into the whole crush part. :) My favorite teachers were Ms. Ballinger, Coach Polk, Mr. Beller, Mr. Zehner, Ms. Wright, Mr. (Bob) Linder, Jane Looney, Derek Adams, and the Bartrugs. Mr. White and the Gorhams too. All the teachers that lifted me up and made me a better person. - I definitely would not do it again. I love my parents dearly, but I couldn't live through another 18 years of their authority. I moved out the day after graduation, and never once regretted it. (But I still love my Momma and Dad.) - My favorite memories were probably the 6th grade trip to Washington D.C., and all the band trips I went on. Art Club, and Odyssey of the Mind. Swimming lessons over at the Dossets' house (the H.S. principal and his wife), and AD&D with the fellas over at Chris McNatt's house. I had some crazy times in Honors Art class in 7th grade. (Mrs. Parsons?) We were always up to no good in there. My ninth grade Odyssey of the Mind team was a hoot even if it never went anywhere. (And Mr. Linder's the first teacher I ever had who ever said "I'm not Mr. Linder to you guys. From now on just call me Bob." How cool is that?) Does anyone else have fond memories of Ms. Wright's class over at the Middle School? I know for me that was crazy fun. All my days at Overholser Elementary in Bethany, OK. were clear skies and sunshine. I'll cherish those memories for the rest of my life. Mmm... Well, I think that's about it... College Tried it, hated it. I tried majoring in art at University of Central Oklahoma, but got fed up when I realized I could teach the class better than some of my professors. I never finished a semester after my fourth one. [Mitch and Mike Villines - If you should ever read this let your Aunt Jane know she's still the best art instructor I ever had... (And try to get her to move to the Oklahoma City area so I can start taking lessons again.:)] But what do I remember about being there? All the crazy people I met. Freedom Rock, Crazy Steve, and Indian Joe. That guy next door to me that was always practicing his opera voice. The Mexicans on the next ...Expand for more
floor down who always cranked up their fiesta music at 8 in the morning. I remember way the ground shook when the Murrah building went down. I remember how the construction crews kept knocking out the electricity and running water when they were beautifying the campus. I remember staying up til 4 in the morning every day, sleeping through my alarm, and making the mad dash to get to class in time. [Gotta embarass my pal, John : ] I remember coming home from vacation and finding my roommate had rented out my Playboy calendar (by the minute) while I was gone. And him asking me to find somewhere else to sleep if I ever came home and found a sock on the door handle. (You never did get a girl to sleep over, bro -chuckle- but it's alright. If you'd scored in the dorm hall you might never have met your wife. Be grateful. I'm sure she is...) And yeah, I know. Payback's hell. :) Just remember, I never mentioned your last name... :)] Umm. I remember the way the afro-americans would hide behind something and start howling like a wolf whenever I walked past because I had long hair and this massive Grizzly Adams beard. And how they always called my buddy Travis "Satan" because he had black lights in his room all these metal chains hanging down from his ceiling, Freddy Kreuger style. And last but not least, I remember freezing my butt off in the winter and burning up in the summer because climate control didn't work in my wing of the dorm hall (which has since been condemned and demolished, leaving nothing but an empty field, and lots of fond memories.) There's nothin like going in for a shower during the winter and finding icicles hanging down from the shower nozzle. Workplace Working at Subway (the restaurant) believe it or not. I got tired of old people and Republicans telling me what to do and when to do it. My ambition now is to be a franchisee so I can be the one in charge and throw people out the door when they get on my nerves. One of my main reasons for being on here right now is to stay in touch with all the people I've worked with down through the years. I love you all! Let me know how you're doin... Military Never happened, though I might have enlisted just for the experience if I had the chance to do it all over again. I do eventually plan on putting myself through the CLEET program, or at least earning my security guard certification. I've heard too many stories about the horrible things that have happened to business owners and their families. (And their employees.) I don't want my loved ones to be another statistic.
