Steve's Story

Hi everyone: After graduation from Carey, I attended the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Airport. I thought I would never remember someone telling me, as the seniors made canvas "airfoils" (profiles of airplane wings), that other types of "airfoils" can be made. It was to be decades before I would know what that could have meant. I served in the U.S. Navy and qualified in Nuclear Submarines with Commendation and was stationed in New London, CT. for that time. I became a Commissioned Officer several years later in the unrestricted line, earning a B.S. in Physics while in the Navy. As a child and for many years, "psy-ops" (psychological operations) found me which involved sanitizing shock, programmed behaviors, and electronic corralling techniques, which adults of the day were using on others and on others' kids. Foster children and orphans, of which Steve was one since early childhood, were put into this mix to test for long-term effects. Some of it was not pretty. Trooping on as time passed, I got back to some reading. While at Carey, I was assigned to do a paper on Ernest Hemingway. I liked going to the Hempstead Library to do the research and saw that Ernest Hemingway had come to an untimely end in 1961. At college, I did my papers on that author whenever I could, preferring to get to know one author well rather than many writers only in passing. I wondered why "that" end should come to a Nobel Prize winner as he was. I was moved by the history--and before the advent of the internet. "Somewhere" I thought there might be an answer. There just might be. And too, I took to reading other authors. The short list includes: William Sullivan's, "The Bureau: My Thirty Years In Hoover's FBI," (1979); "The American Pope: The Life And Times Of Francis Cardinal Spellman," by John Cooney (1984); "Rickover, Controversy and Genius," and others about him (Polmar, 1982); Anne Frank (The Diary, 1952). Role Models: 1. President's as F.D.R. and IKE. 2. Admiral Rickover, and those who helped along the way. I never dyed my hair or spiked it; there were no piercings, earrings, tattoos, or leisure suits, and there were no mohawk hair-do's. I was never an actor or a clown, didn't wear costumes, and didn't participate in any demonstrations. I was never a police officer or a cleric. There were however, "tricksters," now and again, who do manipulate the young and those who serve which is understatement. The Viet Nam War, as we know, found all or most of us in that time--directly--or indirectly in some way. Many of us hoped for a solution to that Conflict and we hoped it would come soon. And it did. I became interested in the plight of Human Test Subjects--youthful and adult--male and female--and am encouraged that many have worked arduously for the protection of them. A number of Federal Bureau's and Agencies have adopted the "Text of the Common Rule" which outlines such protection (see below in *School), and I would like to think its guidelines work as well at the local State level. It has been more than an incidental concern and involves how persons, young and old, can be manipulated without their knowledge and "informed" consent. In short, it has been an "experience" which I wish would not have gone by so quickly. I'd like it if we could be about 27 and that we should not qualify for senior discounts, :), drink less coffee, and meet at a "Four Seasons" and have a dinner into the early morning hours and see what it was that happened all along the way. School: A most memorable class was ceramics class in the 9th grade. Needing a project idea badly, I came up with an "ash-tray" notion, an "era" gone by--though I didn't know what a 9th grader would do with an ash tray. Class members wore "smocks" and I wondered why. It dawned on me that making clay projects was not an altogether "white glove" and dinner jacket affair. I didn't know what the turn-tables were for. The ash-tray became a heavy round circular shape with a "castle" theme at its top, and it wound up having a handle--probably for "carrying around"--if one were so inclined. It was awful. It was your worst nightmare as an art project. But it was a beginning. The next assignment involved an African ceremonial mask that didn't turn out to be half bad and which the instructor helped with, mercifully. He was kind, and so was the class. It was pretty clear that some in it were destined to work in the art world and not in a small way. The talent in it was growing and developing. About the "air"foil: it's an oblique reference to how a person can be "foiled" or undone with gaseous inhalation and is alluded to in nearly any library if you search carefully enough. Though opinions can vary, it's also in most encyclopedia's (especially older ones) and on the net, under the subject heading of "Hypnotism," and "Psychic Driving," D.E. Cameron, M.D., AJP, Vol. 112, No. 7, Jan. 1956, and many others. It can involve those who implant any inclination, behavior, speech (echolalia--"parrot" like speech), or "activity" (e.g., automatic writing) into others and can be hugely manipulative. Some persons engage in this specialty simply for "fun" (or spitefulness) and at a potentially high cost to others that is not necessarily monetary in nature. Other people engage in this "craft" for purposes of "training" and simulation while using others to train themselves on. It has been applied for unseemly reasons and to achieve unseemly outcomes for subjects which is also understatement. The abuses tend not to be documented and can go undiscovered. This subject matter tends to be treated as proprietary and with euphemism. When combined with ECT (electric shock, literally, "electro-convulsive therapy") and other kinds of sanitizing techniques, the results can be at once surprising and devastating. This is what was done to Ernest Hemingway in his closing days. In 1882, Robert Louis Stevenson made reference to a theme that later found Ernest, "The Suicide Club." It's a difficult subject and a theme that comes up in plays, drama's, and books. In the case of Ernest Hemingway, there was much more to it, just as in the other "events" of those '60's depending on how one views them. I think that Ernest was right about something and that he knew it. I think that he was absolutely correct about something and that he paid for it in personal terms until the end came in 1961. If any of our peers or classmates in any of the close year groups went through difficult times that were seemingly fraught with "ill-timing," "misfortune," "chance encounters," "belligerence," unusual propensity, or "out-of-character" behavior, they weren't alone in the trials and tests that were put to them. "Magnets" for "difficulty" can have been made for them (or me) using our cars, our faces or our voices for free "training," to entrap. *A statement of that protection is available from: The Public Health Service National Institutes of Health Division of Human Subjects Office For Protection From Research Risks (OPPR) 6100 Executive Blvd., Suite 3B01 MSC 7507 Rockville, MD. 20892-7507 *************************************** More of what Steve wasn't and was: Steve was not a flower child. He didn't draw flowers on his body or on his face. There is nothing graphic here and ordinarily some of it shouldn't bear repeating. Until an abundance of concern expresses itself however, there may be little incentive to persuade those who cause these scenarios to back off from implementing them. And these words may not deter them. About 1965: While Steve was an usher at the Franklin Theatre in Franklin Square, NY, he used to be offered other work at branch Theatres of that Century chain. One was at Elmont, another was at Floral Park, and another at Green Acres. While performing janitorial work at the Green Acres Theatre at about 3:00 A.M., a man doing an ostensible Theatre management "spot check," came downstairs to where Steve was cleaning, and without warning, shot a taser dart into Steve's chest. He wanted Steve to move a 400 lb. drum of liquid soap up the stairs; Steve couldn't, as it was too heavy, and started to roll the drum on its side. That is when the man shot the taser into Steve's torso. He was middle aged, greying hair, was distinguished looking and was with a shorter man with dark hair. Steve was "sanitized" of that event and returned to Franklin Square as if that incident had not occurred. It was about 1966. At the Franklin Theatre, it was common for ushers to have to run errands for the projectionist as he wasn't allowed to leave the booth during business hours. On one occasion during one of those errands, Steve was overwhelmed by someone hiding in its restroom, door closed, using a strobe light, and was not the regular projectionist. It was to surprise and subdue Steve and to "program" him for some future event. This was done to cause embarrassment within Theatre operations. What the "Men" call "insurance." It means Steve was hypnotized so that he would perform some later act, post hypnotically. You might not believe this. Steve is guessing that it was to generate a pilfering scenario that could be a source of embarrassment when details later came to light--or to have a "mishap," a fall, or an accident on the Marquee which showed the current running movie title--about which few questions would be asked. To injure yourself, in other words. We ushers had the job of changing display letters on the Marquee. A grown male would stalk Steve, driving, as Steve walked home from the Theatre at night and proposition Steve, calling out from his car. At about 17, it was scary--still is. On another occasion, Steve left folded notes in the high ceiling above the Theatre's orchestra and was a place that no one would go to unless they had a reason to. Steve knew it was only t...Expand for more
hose with investigatory authority who would one day find them, if that occurred at all. Steve knew he couldn't be wrong or rash about the manipulation that was occurring with him--some of it having "invisible" aspects to it. Shock doesn't photograph well. Neither do those "stimulant" or "irritant" gases that are sprayed at someone to change or alter behavior--even if for the moment. Steve went to the Legal Aid Society in Mineola about these occurrences, some weird, wanting these psy-ops scenario's to stop or be investigated. On that occasion, he was encouraged to get a restraining order on one of his older foster siblings. Steve was up against "psy-ops" people--Psychological Operations people--in those teen years, before as a child, and after, who have as an objective that one be fooled or manipulated by what is "put" into one's head--or "psyche." People (and their sons) in "the know" were willing to set up others in those '50's, '60's and later, in order to shock or use human subjects to test painful security systems on throughout their lives, and disguised as a longitudinal study to observe long-term effects. Such subjects were "sanitized" of whatever they remembered and were left to go their own way when they had served their purpose. "Volunteerism" was duped or tricked out of them with some probable signing of papers to make it all seem as willful and originated by front organizations or front men, for whom there was no findable address. Along the way, Steve encountered persons who would offer that homosexuality is genetic and that "orientations" are genetically based. Perhaps to have a conversation--perhaps to see if you knew that hypnotism has been applied to get others to do near anything--camera's on--with subjects not fully aware. Back then, Steve was invited to go to the Plaza Hotel to meet someone at that landmark Lodging in NYC when Truman Capote had his book signing for "In Cold Blood" in around 1967. Steve doesn't know why he would have been asked to go there. It was about an ostensible job as a doorman. On his way there via subway and bus, two grown men working together, walking, held a "divining rod" behind Steve as he walked in the vicinity of the Plaza, he still a teenager, post Carey graduation. They were joking and were engaged in some comedic antics that grown men wouldn't normally do on the street. This was likely a screening to make sure Steve had no ill intentions as he got close to the steps of that Hotel. A homosexual man across the street was waving red streamers of crepe paper simultaneously and was a part of the signaling process that was going on. Steve's mind was being picked for anything of import about matters past and if any detail was substantial enough to warrant concern. At the Plaza door, someone was giving cryptic hints as to "who" did what when. Citing, "Who"--a reference to "Hoo"ver. While he was in the service, Steve would be "blindsided" in psy-ops scenario's by people who practice corralling people--and who assess "minds" for any detail that is wanted. There would be no warning. It would be on his leaves, as he transited, and elsewhere. One such encounter before the service was on Lincoln Avenue, Fr. Sq., when Steve was asked about Marilyn Monroe in about 1964 when Steve was an usher at the Theatre. People were "back-checking" as to who might have predicted such things earlier and if they knew anything substantive. It is likely persons weren't supposed to know more about those "happenings." Sanitization (subtle electric shock) would always follow these scenario's so that one wouldn't remember them or who was doing the probing. The Black-Out of 1965: while Steve was walking along Hempstead Turnpike, the Theatre where he worked was closed, as he was encouraged to pilfer bicycle tubes from one of the closed bicycle shops on the Turnpike. To loot! For the life of him, Steve doesn't know why he would be invited to do this. I now know that if I had, this would be tallied against me and I made into a "guinea pig" in human behavioral research--which was "someone's" objective all along. That had already gone on in Steve's life. These "things" were to set the stage for his "volunteerism" for such "study" when it was known that he was about to turn 18--the then legal age in NY. Steve knew and knows that people cared about him and liked him and wondered what was going on with him in that time. Which is why this is here. This is also for Ernest (Hemingway). And for a Defense Secretary, an Admiral, a talk show panelist (Dorothy), John, Robert, Martin, Bill, Vince, Marilyn, and a host of others not so well known. And almost, for Steve. Steve was being sanitized of each scenario, day to day, or week to week, so he wouldn't know specific details of who was manipulating him. Not in an on-going way. It could become "grasping at straws" very quickly if you were to talk about it, narrow it down, and presume to get at its details and discover who or what was behind this. So you had to be wary and judicious. And that "astuteness" might not help. I have never sought public office. I was never a mud-wrestler or a Roller Derby contestant. Steve didn't exaggerate about his medals earned in the military but was "programmed" to demand the Congressional Medal by phone to a Federal Officer in Richland, WA. so that I could be seen to be "out of touch," in the 1990's in Washington State. Steve was never a counterfeiter which is ordinarily a federal crime. He was set up at 11 years old because he was abused when younger and that would be a way to deflect attention as to who was what, and when who was "what." One Carey alum spread "counterfeiter" about Steve on Hempstead Turnpike. Thanks for the memories, gentlemen. Steve was never homosexual or bisexual. All else as hearsay or in pictures means that he was hypnotized or anesthetized and is something and a phenomena that he is concerned about, deeply. Steve has come to know that hypnotic techniques have been misused in generating similar and like sexual scenario's and is something we (straight) citizens should have a legal remedy for and stronger laws on--very much stronger laws. The Junior Encyclopedia Britannica (1952) speaks to this issue candidly, and in fairly blunt detail, as have hundreds (thousands) of other publications under the subject name of "Hypnotism"--in varying complexity--many with understatement. Steve was always a "To Each, His Own" person through the years. I think that is just an easier way to manage one's life without presuming to have a better idea about others'. That doesn't mean he would allow "Others' Own" to be "His Own." There was a line there that he would not cross or want to be taken across, or be hypnotized into--no matter what the reason. Not as a child--and not as an adult. Not good! The people who manipulate badly, can implement an "act" with just that in mind. They "anesthetize" you partially and you are at their mercy. A form of spitefulness at work. This kind of subterfuge can be administered to give one a behavioral penchant for near anything and can again, be costly to a future. Don't be disappointed. The unscrupulous have used these techniques to turn children or teens around in their sense of personal identity and in attempts to make them homosexual or as "free spirits." To "lock" them on behaviorally. They've used combinations of "Psychic Driving" ("repetitive prompting"--the citation is above), Hypnotism, and inhalant stimulants and often when the kids or teens are alone, say in summer camp, or in a (foster) care setting when they're having a known passage through puberty. Older (and different) adults who see nothing wrong with this have used "amyl nitrite" or "butyl nitrite" on others--invisible inhalants--filled into the air or held under their nose disguised as "cologne" and then double-bunked them with the idea that there isn't room elsewhere. Those inhalants enhance tactile sensation once the first effects of a fast heartbeat wear off which is why they are used. They want (2) boys (or girls) to be in close contact with each other and for such contact to feel a little too good when kids or teens are still too young to be feeling that good in that way. Those "volatile nitrites" as they are called are also a hazard to Firemen. They were used in Greenwich Village (and anywhere) on the unsuspecting. Steve has spent much time literature searching "Human Behavioral" manipulation as a concern. It is illegal to conduct on children or adults, young or old, men or women, without their informed consent. It's about "suggestibility,"--it's what you become when Hypnotism is at work--you're made to be both "pliable" and "euphoric" at doing something--even if wrong. Actions are implanted and those doing it hide. Illegal is how Steve sees it with volunteerism for such things seemingly already granted. It's about becoming a "Manchurian Candidate" for anything: Thievery, Unwanted Intimacy, Rash Vulgar Outbursts, Paranoia, Perversion, Ill-gestures, Seeming Deceptiveness, Alcoholism (Which Is Implantable), Trespass, Weirdness, Memory Loss, Deja vu--much implemented on the sly and seemingly self-initiated. Huge Ugly! Pass on the concern! What Steve was: a paper boy for Newsday, an usher, a Navy man and later he worked in Engineering. The rest is as we all have done: fixing up around the house, paying bills, and keeping up with the lawn. Simple. In a word--he stayed simple...very. Write your Congressman or Congresswoman. We need stronger laws to stop the manipulation and the subterfuge. Some of it is violating and scary. With covert sneaky persons who will train on you while smearing citizens (or minors) as if we were "offensive" who make sure that there is no one to answer to. Some see that as eloquent--freeze-shock you and sanitize you of a memory of that shock, and then deny, deny, deny. Not good!
