Sabine's Story
Life
When I graduated from high school I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. Now as I approach 60 I'm starting to have some ideas. I went to college as a a journalism major the first time round, didn't finish. After that I moved up to a small farm in northern Wisconsin, worked in a feed mill, raised dairy goats, was a 4H leader and explored the woods on horse back and on skis.
In 1984 I went back to finish college and this time I did as a film major from UW-Madison. Finding any sort of paying job in that was tough so I was happy when landed a job at a financial trade publication. I learned a lot about computers. research and the investment industry. For a short while I also was the managing editor news content for a dot.com financial news web site. Suddently 16 years had passed and I decided it was time to move again.

After a few months trying unsuccessfuly settling into Albuquerque, I landed back in Chicago and after some jobless months at a university, which just happens to be a 15 minute walk away. No commute. It's a very different world from the corporate world I was used to.
I've discovered that art, in many forms, is my greatest love. I'm an outdoor person and a strong environmentalist with a passion for hiking. exploring and the beatiful stillness of the desert. I have many roads yet to travel and pictures I want to take. I've also thought about going back to school to become a professional baker, but we'll see.
In the meantime, since I turn 60 this year, I'm going on a hiking trip in Turkey this spring. I'm trying to learn some Turkish and breaking in my new hiking boots. It will be a wonder adventure. It's my start on the Silk Road.
