Sally's Story
I am the President and CEO of Beyond OCD, a non-profit charity that was founded 20 years ago by a prominent Chicagoan who suffered so severely from OCD that she was hospitalized for three years. I hope to reduce the stigma of mental illness. It's a great mission, and I enjoy the work that I do. I am continually challenged by the opportunities I have been given. For 9 years I was the V.P. Corporate Relations for the American Lung Association Illinois-Greater Chicago. I am a goal driven development professional with diverse experience in corporate fundraising, relationship building, donor identification and cultivation, and growing special event revenue. I truly believe that passion, vision, and a strong belief in mission is what drives success. I am also a firm believer in networking, and enjoy meeting the generous people who make my job so fulfilling.
A volunteer activist my entire life, I am currently a volunteer for a greyhound rescue organization called Regap of Illinois. In 10 days...Expand for more
, I managed to raise $20,000 for a used dog hauler that will safely transport and rescue Greyhounds from racing tracks and farms.
I've traveled the world, thanks to an 18 year airline career before working in the non-profit field. Traveling is still a priority and I hope to keep seeing the world as much as possible.
I have the three smart and good-looking kids! Dan, A West Point graduate and Army Lt. Colonel Taylor, a gifted film editor who works in California, and Giselle, a talented singer and actress that can currently be seen on the web-series The Dreamers.
I am grateful to have survived breast cancer, which I believe gave me a new perspective on how important it is to learn that we are all here to make the most out of this moment.
I keep in touch with a few WCHS friends and feel lucky to feel connected to those I grew up with. It's amazing that the years fly by so fast, isn't it?
I have absolutely no complaints and no regrets on how things have turned out. Celebrate life!
