Sally's Story

Not 2amuch of a story just living the American Life. After High School I got married to my boyfriend of 3 years, he was drafted 1 year after we were married, so I moved back in with my parents since I was pregnant. I had a baby boy and lived with them for a year. I remember the fear that John would be sent to Vietnam but we were blessed and he received orders for Stuttgart Germany. We joined him there and lived there for 21/2 years, while there we added a little girl to our family. Living in Germany was one the best experiences I have had, we would jump in the car and just drive, you never knew what was around the next corner a ruin, a castle, a cathedral it was awesome. After Germany we moved to Arizona and added another little boy to the family we lived there for a year then John was sent to Korea and we moved back to Stockton. I reconnected with my best friend Yvonne Gravelle Privette and my siblings. It was fun being home again. After Korea we were stationed at Sharpe Army Depot and stayed home for 4 years while there we added another little girl to the family. Then it was back to Germany this time moving 3 times while we were there landing in Bad Kissigen which was close to the East German Border this was before the wall was down. It really makes you think when you see machine guns lined up toward a country's own borders knowing if they wanted to leave they would be shot. It made us really appreciate our country problems and all. A...Expand for more
fter Germany we decided it was best for our children to get out of the Military life and settle down in one place, we chose Stockton and family. It was good time landing on Calhoun. the kids going to the sames schools I did and having the neighborhood pool in the summer. I thought we were settled but alas it was not to be, a job transfer moved us again, this time north to a place called Oroville Ca. I missed Stockton so much its Cultural diversity, closeness to the city its trees, family etc. But I adjusted my parents lived 35 minutes away in the mountains and life went on with ups and downs of raising children. I feel so blessed that we stayed committed to my staying home and raising our children. It was a good life. I started working as a healthcare cook when our youngest daughter was in 7th grade. A few years late I went back to school and became a Dietary Manager. I am now the Food Production Manager of our local hospital. As every life does mine took a corner I did not expect in 1992 my husband went looking for the grass that was greener. Short story that ended in divorce so I am now on my own and loving it. I have a good life, work hard and have great friends and a church I love. My 4 children are doing well and live in a 3 hour radius of my home, they have been busy and I have 15 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. We have a beautiful lake here that is well known for its bass, so if your ever in the neighborhood look me up.
