Sarah's Story
Life
You knew me as Sally, but I was born Sarah and FINALLY got to be called that when I went to U of Delaware. After 4 great years and not finishing my degree, took time off when we lost our dad (Mr. Deetz, everyone's favorite biology teacher?!) to cancer but returned to UD to finish my degree in December 1987. Moved to Norfolk, VA, married in 1990 and transferred to Raleigh, NC while working as a liability claims adjuster. Corporate downsizing prompted the move I'd always wanted to make to Denver, CO in 1995 (love those Broncos and my sister Rebecca already lived there); husband didn't make the move, and we split in 1996. I was introduced to Les Edsall by Rebecca in February 1999, and after a whirlwind romance we married in Las Vegas 10/10/99 with my mother,sisters (Rebecca/Becky & Alison/Missy), and classmates Debbie Amsterdam VanHorn & Laura Edmondson Ammerman and Judy Trotta (mother of the late Heather O'Mara) in attendance. "Retired" from claims and moved with my dog Sam to UT to join Les and be full-time stepmom to his 3 children (Leah, now 31 married Sean Cope 10/03/05, and they moved to Buffalo and made me a GRANDMOTHER with Lucy 8/3/07 and have since moved back to Utah; Joe, , living in Utah with his bride Nicole and had their son Champ 06/23/09, daughter Georgia 12/07/10 and latest grandson Logan ...Expand for more
10/07/12; Vicky, 23 graduated with honors from SUNY Buffalo and now has her Masters in Publishing from Pace University, engaged and living/working in Buffalo) and be a substitute teacher (ironic, yes?!). We relocated to the 'burbs of Boise March 2001, and we were sad to leave there with yet another relocation in March 2003. Went back to Utah ('burbs of Salt Lake City) when Les started working for a medical products company. And an even bigger life change: our beautiful twins, Heather & Hannah, were born 12/16/04. Then Les got an opportunity with a biomed/tech outside of Buffalo, NY in June 2005, prompting ANOTHER move. With twin babies! And yet another move in November 2008 to the 'burbs of Pittsburgh (NOTE: Steelers won the Superbowl and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup since we arrived. Coincidence? I think not!!) I'm hoping for a five year run here in PA; no more relo any time soon! My mother retired in 1999 to live near Rebecca in Colorado, but passed away unexpectedly 05/10/12; Alison has moved to Utah with her husband & 4 children, right down the road from our former home. Now that I'm back on the East Coast, it's been wonderful to reconnect and even visit with family and old friends. Visited Ridgewood & NYC in 2004; so little has changed, except for all the stores downtown becoming restaurants!
