Sally's Story
Life
I have been married for 39 years, will be 40 on May 16, 2005. I have 2 children, 1 stepdaughter, 9 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren.
My Husband's name is Ronald Childs. He was in the Air Force when we got married. In 1966 I joined him in Okinawa and stayed there until 1969. From there we moved several times, but I never got to go overseas again. Ron retired in 1974, we came to Houston because that was the only place that had jobs at the time. He went to work for an Oil Company, I went back into the Medical field. After 2 years in the Medical field, I changed and went into Mortgage Lending. I worked my way up in that field to Underwriter, Auditor and I helped several companies get started and one company I got approved to do FHA lending. I helped a savings and loan set up their secondary marketing department and became well known nationally as an underwriter. It was fun, I sold and purchased loans in the Millions of dollars, so I had lots of fun handling all that money. I also became well known for my knowledge in Truth in Lending laws. Fact is, I had the opportunity to work with the individuals that made the laws for TIL and RESPA since I understood the math and they relied on me for help when changing the laws. ing my own company when I became too sick to work I had to give that plan up. I loved my work and enjoyed working with many people all over the nation.
Besides working, and being a full time Mom, I also taught Cathcism for over 20+ years. My last class was in 2000. You know polotics, they get into everything, so I decided to stop teaching. Someday I may get back into it.
I worked with an interdenominational group for 8 years, and sang in the church choir.
Right now I am receiving Social Security Disability, and have had a rough time with my health especially in the past 2 years. God has been good to me thou, I am still kicking and I do function. Not as well as I would like to, but I still try to enjoy life. One other thing I did was teach Catechism for 20+ years. I took a couple of college courses and lots of seminars in both the Medical and Mortgage Lending Field. I do not have any good recent photos that I would put on the net.
I spend a lot of time with My Daughter's children, and some time with my Son's children. My Son is divorced from his first wife therefore I do not have the ability to see his children as often as I would like to.
I can't complain, I have had a good, funny, spirit filled life that I would not trade with anyone.
