Sam's Story
After graduating from high school, I spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy (e.g. 1964 - 1970). During this time, I met and married my wife Iona. We have been married now for 43 years, and have 2 grown children. While in the military, I spent 2.5 years in training, relating to electronics, radar, computers and missile systems. The last 3.5 years in the military were spent aboard the guided missile destroyer U.S.S. John King (DDG3) working on a surface-to-air missile system.

eived my AA degree majoring in Data Processing, and in 1977, I received my bachelors degree majoring in Computer Science/Information Systems Management, and Business/Management. Between 1971 and 2008 (37 years), I worked in the computer industry at various organizations including the federal government, NASA, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, MCI, SmithKline & French Labs (now Glaxo SmithKline), and Marriott International. Between 1992 and 2008, I worked at Marriott International developing computer systems, and I retired from Marriott in 2008. Iona and I now live just outside of Greensboro, NC.
