Sammy's Story
After attending USCA culminating in an AS (1969) in Business Admin, I completed my BS (1971) in Business Admin (Accounting) with minor studies in Economics and Psychology at University of South Carolina in Columbia. I took an U.S. Army Accounting Intern position at Fort Jackson, SC in JUN 71. With short stops in Atlanta, GA, Fort Jackson, and Indianapolis, IN, I spent 25 of the next 32 and half years at Fort Monroe, VA. ving Army/DOD financial management system applications. I retired from civil service in 2004 and went to work for Perot Systems as a Senior Financial Systems Analyst working on an Army support contract. Dell Systems acquired Perot in 2008 and I continued working for Dell until May 2011 when the contract expired. At that time I retired completely.
I married Demetra Hutson from Blackville, SC in 1977. We have a son (Scott -ÃÂ 1980) and daughter (Lauren -1984). We returned to Aiken, SC in 2009 building our retirement home on 6 acres southwest of Aiken, SC off of Silver Bluff Rd.
