Sandi's Story

June 2013 Well, it's 6 years in Vegas now and still loving it! My Life Enrichment Coach business is coming along quite well! It is so rewarding and fulfilling to help people change their lives and start living their dreams! We now have 3 grandsons and our Labradoodle will be 6 this year as well! September 2012 We've been in Vegas for 5 1/2 years now and loving it! We love our neighborhood (quiet with great neighbors), our home and our friends! I have been doing the same thing for 22 years now, selling advertising to the hospitality industry (7.5 as an employee and going on 13 years as an independent contractor). Our daughter has 2 boys (4 and 1) and our son's wife is about to have a boy in November! Funny to think this will be the double nickel birthday next month! I'm starting a new health/wellness program, starting with a digestive wellness program, and moving on from there. Heading to MN in a couple of weeks. Hope all is well with everyone in WBL! December 2009 Jeff took a job in Los Angeles so we are now dual state residents. Starting to get the hang of going back and forth. Forced us into the world of hybrid cars, which is quite interesting in itself. Our new car is getting almost 40 miles per gallon! It's also a dream car for the geek of our family (me)! Last photo is of us with our grandson on his first Halloween, dressed as the cutest monkey in the world...but who's biased?! My dad is still living in the same house for 50+ years and looking, & doing, pretty great for a man in his 80's. He's still the wonderful role model that he's always been and loves to visit. Stop by, if you ever get a chance! May 15, 2009 Just returned from a 10 day cruise to Haiti, Columbia, Panama Canal, Costa Rica (will definitely go back), and Grand Cayman. Our two kid's spouses just turned 30 last week, had the best Mother's Day ever and our grandson isn't so little any more! Having a blast! Story Wizard answers: I always wanted to be a PE Teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right, but not for me. My favorite way to relax is an hour of yoga, go to a spa, a walk with my husband and dog, a hike up a mountain to a very quiet place to stop and listen to nothing, or a visit to a body of water to listen to the sound of the waves (preferably the ocean). I have lived in White Bear Lake, MN, and Mankato, MN and needed to move to a warmer climate, plus I have always wanted to travel and use my knowledge of the Spanish language, so I went to Florida to get a job on a cruise ship. Worked for RCCL for four years at sea, as a sports director, dance instructor and shore excursion manager. I learned the Italian and Norwegian languages. I lived in Miami area a total of 10 years and then moved from FL to Las Vegas for a year to get out of the humidity, then on to CA to move near the mountains and ocean. Lived there for 22 years and then moved back to Las Vegas to buy a home & to be near our daughter and her husband, and now our grandson. November 26, 2008 We have a handsome, healthy GRANDson, Ethan James, and having the time of our lives! Went to NYC a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time, San Francisco last week and took a Segway tour around the Pier area (what fun!), went to Napa for lots of great food and wine and are heading to Cancun for a little fun in the sun. Loving walking and running with our Labradoodle, who is now 65 pounds of love. He keeps us active and growing younger by the day. June 10, 2008 I just went to our daughter's baby shower! It was great! Looking forward to having a little boy addition to our family! We will have sooo much fun! The photo on the front is me with Mickey at Petapalooza, for the hairiest dog contest! Oct. 28, 2007 The past few months have brought many changes to my life. I turned the Big 5-0 and two days later my birth mother passed away. If you knew me, you know that I was adopted and the obituary mentioned my name as her daughter. I had found out at about the age of 38 but this was the first time that the world found out that I was her daughter. It was a very bitter sweet day. She was a very private, wonderful, loving, caring and thoughtful woman. We will miss yer very much! Dec. 2, 2007 My step-sister, Sandy, married a wonderful Canadian man, and I am so happy for her! Dec. 22, 2007 My (step) son and his girlfriend of 10 years married on Dec 22. They had a beautiful ceremony in Los Angeles, CA! Dec. 24, 2007 We came home with a beautiful white labradoodle puppy! He weighed in at about 7 pounds and within 5 months has already grown to 35 pounds! He is adorable and a welcome member of our family! We walk (with a bit of jog/running) for about 2 hours a day so mommy and daddy are getting back into shape as well! Jan 2008 My (step) daughter and her husband announced that they are pregnant and expecting a child in September so I'm going to be a ...Expand for more
nanna! March 2008 Work-wise, we have just launched a spa news RSS feed to AmazingSpas.com and look forward to passing on breaking spa news, spa cuisine recipes and special travel packages to our visitors and to those who sign up for our weekly RSS newsletter. Past Gymnastics was my love for many years, which started in the summer of 6th grade when my parents bought me the trampoline that I had always wanted and continued through competition at Mankato State University. I graduated from Mankato with a degree in P.E. and a minor in dance and went on to become a sports director with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. I also taught dance and was the line's first female shore excursion manager. After that, I sold for Carico, International for about 4 years. I then moved to Las Vegas and started selling advertising for the local TV channel, which in those days was The Running Rebels station. Then, I wanted to get closer to the ocean and mountains so I moved to Los Angeles. I started to learn LA by working at Drake, a personnel placement company. After Drake, I worked at Schneider Publishing, where I sold ads for a regional association publication. My clients were large cities on the West Coast who wanted to market to the association community, to bring their meetings to their cities facilities and hotels. I also helped launch SportsTravel magazine, and became the associate publisher. After 7 years there, ASAE approached me to do the same thing, but on a national level and to become self employed, which has always been my dream. That is when my life made a huge change! Only 3-4 weeks after I started with ASAE, I met the man who became my husband. I really wasn't ready for marriage until I turned 40, and that was when I went onto Matchmaker.com, found my husband and finally settled down. I married a wonderful man from The Bronx, who had a 16 year old daughter and 19 year son - they are now 25 and 28. After a couple of years, I launched my own corporation Life With Zest, Inc. and my web site AmazingSpas.com, a compilation of everything I love to do when I'm not selling for ASAE. It is a web site devoted to spa resort reviews, health & spa product reviews and a travel site, for those who want to take a vacation at a nice resort that has a spa. We have access to about 900 spa resorts throughout the world...growing every day! We have recently moved to Green Valley Ranch, a suburb of Las Vegas. It was a decision due to a lot of factors: the daughter and her husband wanted to move here to buy a home, a lot of my clients are here and more hotels and spas are popping up all of the time, plus we get the 7% state income tax back, which is a nice perk. I am starting to play golf again, as there are so many golf courses and events here. I have joined the Las Vegas Chamber and the LV Hospitality Association. Las Vegas is another town in itself! I know that it will be a great business move for me as well. I have joined the above groups and I am also about to start playing "fun" golf with a group of women hospitality gals that "play and learn" once a month. I look forward to networking and playing with them! I also joined the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters, as I have always had a desire to join and learn how to speak better. Since I plan on stepping up the PR on AmazingSpas.com, I will need to know how to speak to the press as well. Wish me luck! I am also a member of ISPA (International Spa Association, LVHA (Las Vegas Hospitality Association) and plan to join the LVSA (Las Vegas Spa Association) this year. We travel extensively for work and love to travel internationally at least once a year. Basically, we are always looking for fun things to do and visit. In fact, we are looking for fun things to explore in our new back yard, Vegas, Utah and Arizona. We are very active, "young adults" and don't plan on slowing down any time soon.
