Sandi's Story

Life Following high school, I attended UW-Stout. I took some time off when I got married in '93, and graduated in 1996 with a major in Human Development and Family Studies. I worked as a Domestic Abuse Legal Advocate and Parent Educator following graduation. I have lived in Chippewa Falls since getting married. Dave & I have had three children. Victoria "Tori" is now 13. Logan is 10. Our third child, Alexandra, passed away during labor on her due date in May of '99. Dave served on active duty for 18 months (Iraq), and has since retired after 20 years of duty with the Wisconsin National Guard. He works for a sheet metal manufacturer in the area (he has an Industrial Technology/Manufacturing Engineering degree from UW-Stout). I am now working part-time for Xcel Energy (Eau Claire). Will probably stay part-time until the kids are a little older. I am still in regular contact with Debbie (Dobrzynski) and Julie (Rhodes). Debbie is married with FIVE children (Amanda, Matthew, Mikayla, Rebecca & Alexis), and lives in Spencer, WI. Jules and her husband, Robin, live in Shakopee, MN. Julie and Debbie were both attendants in my wedding. Robin was one of Dave's groomsmen (Robin & Julie met at our wedding and were married two years later). We are pretty involved in the community, schools and our church. Tori is a black belt in karate (Elite Karate). She has been assisting her master instructor with classes for over a year now. She is also on the competition team there, and recently won a grand championship in sparring at an area tourney. She also plays basketball, volleyball, and fastpitch softball. She loves to run, hang out with friends, and swim. She's completed her last level of red cross swimming, and hopes to lifeguard when she turns 16. Logan plays baseball, loves to swim, enjoys watching the Boston Red Sox, and is a big Nascar fan. He started golf lessons this summer at Ojibwa in Chippewa, and really loved it. He has one more year left at the elementary school. He's looking forward to middle school so that he can join the band & choir. He will be in the Chippewa Valley Boys' Choir starting this fall. He attended two camps this summer (Lions Club & Scouts). For those not familiar with our family, Logan was born with a blind left eye, and has a prosthetic (painted) shell that he wears over the little eye. You really can't tell that he wears a fake eye unless you know to look for it. He's a very active, brilliant boy. I look forward to catching up with old friends/classmates. I'm not one for reunions, as I don't do the bar scene anymore! WOAH:) You probably won't see me at a reunion for quite some time, but I enjoy catching up when I can (loved seeing Jean at our girls' basketball tourney last season!!!). School Attended Colfax, Ridgeland and Altoona elementary schools before the move to Cadott the summer of '80. Attended Cadott Elem, Jr. High and Sr. High Schools from 5th grade on. Going to school in Cadott..... I'm very thankful to have gotten through it all:) I would never, ever want to go back!! I made a vow when I left to never raise my own children in Cadott. Hey.... it's all personal preferences, right?? *SMILE*. I always said I'd never date a guy from Chippewa, and I ended up marrying one.... So, never say never!! I'll never forget the good friends I had in high school. Deb & Jules will always be very dear to my heart. Without them, I don't know that I would have made it through the years there! ey kept me sane:) A&T, if you read this, know that the times I spent with you both will never be forgotten! Thanks for being my protectors, and always looking out for me:) Our double-"date" with the White Cadillac is a great memory. P, thanks for always being there when I've needed you. You've always looked out for me, and you've been a rock through the years. "Poopsie" - it's been way too long:) Can't wait to reconnect and find out what you've been up to! As for all my other classmates from the Class of '88.... I certainly hope that life has treated you all well! I had one very drunken class reunion, and got Deb through the next while I attempted to stay sober enough to drive!:) I missed the 15-Year, and probably will miss the 20-Year as well. But, I hope that the rest of you have fun -- have some drinks on me, as I don't touch the stuff much anymore!!! LOL! College Life at UW-Stout was always an adventure! My years were clouded in an alcoholic haze, and I'm lucky to have gotten through them with decent enough grades to graduate! LOL! I lived in Wigen Hall for three years, was involved in the hall government (was secretary my second year and president my third year) and worked front desk and night security. I was a member of Alpha Omicron sorority, and the Concert & Pep Bands (where I was social chairperson, president and 1st chair clarinetist the last couple of years). I lived in my sorority house for a year, which was probably the most challenging year I had at Stout! I don't think a person can come any closer to being labeled an alcoholic than I was during that time. T, thanks for visiting with me in the wee hours to drink away our problems:) After leaving in '93 to get married, and welcoming my first child in to the world, I decided to return to Stout to finish up my degree.... It took about a year, thanks in part to me changing my major at the last moment:) But I got through, and that's the important part!! Would love to reconnect with friends from Wigen! My sorority sisters and I stay in touch as much as possible through email and our website (which I try to update as much as I can!!). Workplace LaGrander's Drive-In:) Need I say more - what a fantastic job during high school & college. My senior prophecy was to take over the drive-in and call it Sandi's Pub & Grub. We love to go to the stand for lunch to this day:) Prange Way in Chippewa.... One L-O-N-G summer! McDonald's in Menomonie.... Hey, it lasted a semester!! Wigen Hall front desk & night security - this one lasted a few years, and was a great job! Hattie Maxwell's in Menomonie... graveyard shift waitressing.... and awful place to work. Couldn't stand the place!! Family Support Center in CF.... a wonderful job, great colleagues, always a challenge! My first "real job" out of college. Should've stayed!!! Loved it, and have many great memories. Miss my coworkers greatly!!!! River Source Family Center, CF... left FSC for the front of the building. Bad move on my part, as I didn't have the time to make my job a priority at that time. Regretted leaving FSC, and sadly missed the work I had done in "back". Hillcrest Elem. in CF.... Love working there every opportunity I have!!! Military Husband Dave is a 20-year member of the Wisconsin National Guard (1-128th Infantry Battalion). He recently finished an 18-month tour of duty with nearly a year spent in Iraq. This is his second tour of duty overseas. He served in Saudi Arabia in '91.
