Sandra's Story
I married John ( Teddy) Harris after high school and have been for 36 years. I did not travel the world for adventure. Life itself has been an adventure. Happy times, challenging times, learning and accepting times just because, it must be love. I love my Teddy. We have 2 children, son 35 years old, daughter 31 yrears old, 2 grandchildren, 11 and 13 years old. Our most recent venture we had owned an archery business for 12 years, A hobby of 25 years in archery shooting, competition, and hunting turned into a rewarding business. Friendships, new and old, archery instruction and many contacts over the years supported us, We successfully managed a personalized archery only store for 12 years that other ventures could not reach. We made the decision to close in 2007. The chain of events of economy slowing, the drought, and the slowing in the real estate and construction buisness, soaring gas prices, and the decline in archery sales lead to our decision that things were going to get much worse before they were going to get better We have remained in Fayetteville and have been active in volunteer programs supporting our community. I am active in my church, Green Spings Baptist Church, Support Grays Creek Christian Community Center. I love my friends. and I love my family. Love is what makes the world go round. God is Love. I am looking forward to the class reunion. We all travel in different circles and have busy lives and its the one event to share and remember when.
2013 a year Faith in God is ever so stronger, life changing events. August 16, 2013 experienced a stroke, after treatments for strep throat and sinus infection, hemoglobin counts an all time low of 6.9. First long term stay in hospital, 10 days. God's hands ...Expand for more
protected and delivered me to experienced doctors, pa's, nurses, and staff transporting me on a grand tour of advanced technology equipment at Cape Fear. I am so proud of the advancements and improvement of customer care that Cape Fear is doing. Every test imaginable was done to find the cause of my anemia and/or find out what resulted from the anemia. A blood transfusion was a like a breath of fresh air, I was warm, been cold natured all my life, felt renewed. Another setback, I had gone into shock after receiving contrast for test. Biopsy was taken, more blood test, doctors were still diagnosing. I had arrived as a mystery surprise referred by my dentist. During this stay, renewing my faith and trust in God, the greatest gift was joining with me was my husband, Teddy, that the Circle of God's order was stronger with us joined together. A couple of days later the diagnosis was made. I have cancer based on my anemia. It's now eight (8) months, treatment of pills and a shot, PET scan results good. New scans in 2 weeks. I am gaining energy, endurance, and strength. My cancer is treatable and God is in charge. I trust in God's plan and He is in charge. I have been blessed to have Teddy he takes wonderful care of me. September 9, 2013, just after I got out of the hospital, he surprised me with renewing our vows. The first time Justice of the Peace, the second time before God, delivered by Preacher of God, and my family. July 20, 2014 will be 40 years and still does not seem like 40 years have passed and I have loved my Teddy. To all that read this, know that you are all in my heart and I pray for you daily. i am glad to have grown up with you. May God bless you!!!! Sandy, Sandra Bullington Harris Class of 74.
