Hi Friends,
Wow, it's been 47 years since we graduated and celebrated on Catalina Island. Since my 4 great years at BOHS, I graduated in 1970 from CSUF, and got married 6 weeks later, and got a teaching credential from Chapman University in1971. I immediately began teaching for 12 years in Brea for Leonard MacKain, Howard Bryden, and Ken Reed, among others. Do those names bring back junior high memories? I actually taught some of your younger brothers and sisters. I retired to raise my two children, but returned to teaching in Orange, CA when my son entered the University of Berkeley (always needing some new expensive addition to his computer.) strict to do after school tutoring, CELDT testing, and substituting for friends. I think I'm retired again (3rd try), but I'm not sure if I know how-I love to teach and work with the kids, but am totally dismayed with the direction we are going in education. It can't be good for the kids to constantly be tested on recently acquired knowledge, and refuse to allow them to be creative in the arts and physical education (there's not enough time in the teaching day). My husband and I are coming up on our 43rd wedding anniversary, so we want to travel more-something we used to do when we were younger. We also enjoy our incredible grandsons, who only live 20 minutes away. They are a laugh a minute, and very intelligent. They love to test my knowledge when they already know the answers.
