Sandra's Story
Life
Hi to anyone who checks. In 37 years I've lived in Missouri, Virginia, Texas, Alabama, and California, not including the 14 years I spent in Arkansas. I became a teacher and have worked in classes K-5, 7-12; How did I miss the sixth grade? Now I'm looking for a job in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC. Our two children are grown and have returned to the nest. Our daughter, Samantha, has two daughters, and will have another child mid to late January, and our son James is single. My husband Bill was transferred to Andrews Air Force Base in February, 2004. Since Bill will not be able to transfer back to Fort Irwin, I joined him in Fort Washington, Maryland. Bill and I are together again. We have a queen size hid-a-bed if anyone wants a place to stay and see DC. Bill retired in 2006, and we returned to the California,. I retired February, 2012. Our daughter has three children. Mikayla is a senior, Andrew is a junior, and Rune is in the 5th grade. James married and has 2 daughters. Serena is in the 8th grade and Danielle is in 3rd grade. Bill and I are mobile, but do most of our travelling back and forth to doctor's appointments.
Workplac
My work biography begins in 1971 when I began working as a full time clerk at Southwest Baptist (College) University. I worked there until my husband, Bill, graduated in 1973. We moved to Virginia and I again worked in a library--Richmond Public Library. I was a clerk in ...Expand for more
the circulation department and music department. In 1974 I got a job teaching at Blytheville High School and was there for 14 years--from 1974-1989. I then moved to Texas and in November, 1989 to a sub position and finished the year at Stevens Middle School. I then worked at Liberty Elementary in Azle, Texas while I was working toward certification in Special Education. I was there from 1990-1993. When we moved to Alabama I managed to take on several postions. Frist I taught for the Autauga County School System in Billingsly, the worked parttime for the Autauga-Prattville Library System as a branch clerk in Autaugaville and after a year there also took a position with Canterbury High School in Montgomery/ Since moving to California I've worked for Barstow Unified School District. In
September, 2004 I went to work in Prince George's County at Benjamin Foulois Elementary School. I am a CSEP teacher--last year 4th grade next year (?????????????????). By January I was also Grade Level Chair. We started the year with 5 fourth grade teachers and by Christmas, all had left but me. Any one interested in teaching and not opposed to relocating should try this area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Bill retired and we returned to California, I worked as a substitute for Barstow Unified School District
and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. In April, 2007 I started working at SBCSS where I remained until my retirement.
