Sandra's Story

I married Jack Dickerson from Kenbridge, VA in 1973. We had three sons, Jack, Joe and Mark. We have had a wonderful life with our three sons and we lost Jack in an automobile accident in 1969. This was a very difficult time for us all and it took us a while to overcome the tremendous tragedy. Our son Joe went to chef school is is now a chef. He is of course a good cook and we are very proud of him. Mark graduated from Hampden-Sydney and is now attending George Mason to obtain his masters in Systems Engineering. We are very proud of him and just cannot say enough good things about him and Joe. We love working in the yard. Husband jack roots boxwoods. I like to plant flowers. We have both had open heart surgery but are grateful today because the surgery has given us promise of a longer life. ation and Jack in in the insurance business. We look forward to one day having grandchildren--even though our sons are not there yet we hope that this will be a future wish fulfilled. I am a crafty person and make jewelry. Have done many things in my time such as quilting, sewing, etc. I went to University of Richmond School of Continuing studies in my midlife and enjoyed this nice outside activity. Also worked at University of Richmond for a few years and that is the reason I went back to school. I just wish the very best for all my classmates. I was very shy so may not be remembered but I felt that I was so lucky to have been among so many nice people of the time and so blessed to have been a part of error of the sixties. Our children look at us like we don't understand the way things are today and that is somewhat true--they just don't know what they have missed not to be a part of our error. We were truly lucky.
