Sandra's Story
Life
My three daughters, along with my parents, moved to California in 1978. My brother had lived there since 1963 (my only sibling). I love it out here except for the traffic- it's wall to wall on the freeways! My children are married with two daughters each. My husband Tom and I were married in 1983. He has two daughters. His oldest has three daughters and his youngest daughter is getting married 9/7/07. Maybe she will give us a boy. (5 daughters and 9 grandaughters!!!) However, llittle girls are soooo wonderful and they don't leave their mommies.
I have held some good jobs in California - was Executive Assistant to Presidents of three different companies. Retired in 2003 when our company was closed.
I love being retired and able to do anything I want. Next year we are going to take a six-week trip on the Transyberian Railway starting in London (thru Berlin, Prague (will spend a fe...Expand for more
w days in Prague), Moscow (will spend some time there also), Mongolia, and ending up in Beijing, China. Then we will travel to Cambodia and Vietnam. Maybe Maylasia, Thailand and Pakistan again - we're not quite sure.
The last time we left Pakistan, we were taken into a room, where they took our passports and started asking for me. I don't think I was ever so scared in my life. Finally they let us go.
So we ran across the Indian border (during a Monsoon) and they were the kindest people. They even offered me tea.
Next year I'm also going with my girlfriend to Ireland. Tom has no desire to go there so we're going on a chick trip for three weeks.
My mother died last year of Alzheimer's and my father has it too. He lives with me part time and my brother part time. So far, he's very easy to take care of. He'll be 89 on September 4th.
Can't wait to see all of you in September!!!
