Life I have two adult children, born in upstate NY while my husband, Jerry, was completing his degrees. Greg is in his mid-40s and Melanie is in her early 40s. Greg is unmarried. Melanie has two sons, Nate and Jonah. After Jerry got his PhD, we moved to State College, PA where Jerry accepted a job as an Asst. Professor in the electrical engineering department at Penn State University. I got two degrees from Penn State (as an adult). Actually, I went to college along with my two children! Jerry and I moved to Tampa, Florida in 1984. He accepted a teaching opportunity (electrical engineering) at the University of South Florida which, oddly enough, is in Tampa. I worked at the Florida Mental Health Institute (a research facility at USF) for 8 yrs, as an administrator. We bought a house about 5 miles from campus. In 1992, I started a niche-market recruiting firm (Gerard-Phillips & Associates).We placed graphic designers, web designers/developers, engineers, technical writers, marketing applicants,etc.,etc. We were unique and very successful until all hell broke loose - 9/11 and the recession.
