Sandra's Story
I was so glad to get out of school. I always felt like a misfit, I really didn't fit anywhere. So college was out of the question. I went to work at several places until I found something I liked. I worked for The Mercantile Corp as a shipping manager for several years. (George Clooney also worked there with me in 79-80)
I married Larry Hoh (DHHS '75) in August of 1980, we started dating in 1975. He took a job with the government and we were transferred to Ashland KY.in 81. Jobs were hard to find in the early 80's so I decided to go to vocational school. I graduated 2 years later with a degree in carpentry and cabinet making. I have built several pieces of furniture over the years and have a woodworking shop in my basement. The last thing I made was a cradle for my grandson.
We started our family in 85 with a son, he has graduated with a masters degree and lives in Lexington. In 87 we had a daughter, she blessed us with a ...Expand for more
grandson in 2008, she is finishing her college degree and should graduate in 2011-12.
We moved to the outskirts of Glendale in 86. and raised our children on a few acres in the country. I decided to be a stay at home mom and I did a lot of work with the schools. As my children got older I went to work at a greenhouse and finally found my calling. I worked several years and learned a lot. This was a huge retail business. A few years ago I quite work and started my own greenhouse business I raise Tall Bearded Irises and native KY wildflowers, which I have been collecting for years. I also sell on e-bay, and watch my grandson a couple days a week.
Life has been good to me. I have a wonderful family and today August the 2nd is my 29th wedding anniversary. And looking forward to many more.
I hope that all my old classmates have had a great time over the years and have been healthy and happy, stay young at heart and laugh a lot.
