Sandra's Story
We moved from Cahokia in the first quarter of my Southmore year, so I actually graduated from Pattonville High in Missouri instead of Cahokia.
I've always been really shy, I was awkward at makings friends sometimes so it was hard for me to leave my long time friends from grade school, Wirth Junior High/Cahokia.
I feel the friends any child made through the years of elementary school; attending year after year with the same students (good old Penniman) and on through Jr./ High School holds a special place in a person's heart. To this day, I still remember most of my grade school teacher's names........
One that stands out in my mind is Mr. Dunlap. He was one of the coolest teachers I ever had. He was a big baseball fan and if you had good grades and did well on a particular test, he would give those students extra recesses, (usually it was most of the class, and it seems like we were ALWAYS on the blacktop.) Mr. Dunlap would play baseball with some of the boys and those of us who did not partake in the baseball game, could do what they wanted. We would play tether ball or bett...Expand for more
er yet .... mimic concocted "secret agent" games as clever as Napoleon Solo or Illya Curriacan might create in "The Man from Uncle" (or so we thought at our young ages).
Sometimes now, I can't remember what I planned to say, but I still remember my two best friend's names from Penniman... Charlotte Cochran and Dixie McKintosh. We were the "three musketeers" and competed for good grades. Charlotte had dark hair and eyes and was very smart and pretty. Dixie was a cupie doll with blond braided pigtails and just as smart. I was the tall one that looked a little like Cher.
I went to work immediately after graduating Pattonville (working part time in my Senior year.) After High School, besides working full time, I have attended St. Louis Community College for years now and have just finally obtained my Associates Degree in Applied Science, Office Information Technology.
I also construct stained/art glass items, tiffany styled lamps, art glass windows, repair old stained glass windows, night lights, gifts. You can find me on the website "etsy.com"
Hope you enjoyed the above. - Sandra
