Sandra's Story
It's been many years since 1966! Got a job downtown at Northern Trust Bank as a personal teller. Really enjoyed working there and quit when I got married...time to move on. Got married Bill Kehrer, in 1968 (another January 66 graduate). We had 2 sons, Billy and Lou, 11 months apart! Enjoyed being a homemaker and mom until our sons hit Jr. High. While at home I kept busy with the Jr. Woman's Club of Des Plaines doing much volunteer work for the community. During my stint as President, we built a day camp for children suffering from cancer. Belonged to a bowling league and played racketball twice a week. My mother had a woman's clothing store in Chicago and...Expand for more
went to work part-time while my boys were in school. Time to move on from there and begin working full time again...no need to be home! Worked at United Airlines in the Accounting Dept. for a 9 months. From there began working at my current job (where my youngest son worked part-time after school). Both sons eventually got married and I now have 6 grandchildren. My youngest son, Lou, died in 2002...and I miss him everyday. Time moves too fast and I try to keep his 2 sons very much a part of our family (it's working). Still working, even though stressful, I like my job. Have a wonderful circle of dear friends. All in all, I consider myself pretty fortunate.
