Sandra's Story

Life August 2010 UPDATED - married/divorced 2 times by 22, then met my best friend, married him, (NEARLY 44 YEARS NOW) moved to Canada in 68. Lived up No. in log cabin for 8 years with our 2 babies ( 1 each girl '69 & boy '70) . Had 200 chickens, 6 horses, 11 goats, 2 pet piggys....Took a solitary 6 mo.COVERED WAGON TRIP across BC w/2 babes in diapers before we settled down in a bigger log cabin and started to gather livestock (pets)...Got cancer, survived, took kids, hubby and camper on 7 year search for true meaning of "family", lived on Baja Beaches w/kids mostly. Made us a unique and solid family... Had Ezra (#3) in '80 after years of trying (Cancer delay) and we 4 began parenting again... Settled in Lower Mainland BC, had another bout w/cancer in 89 & again rethought "life". I keep it simple now, enjoy daily talks and visits with our kids who all live within 30 minutes of us. We own a house in Pt Robt, WA and a house in Ladner, BC. CANADA, own our winter retreat casa in southern baja on the sea of Cortez. Enjoy 5 months a year there in winter HEAVEN. We have two grandboys and one granddaughter. Life has been wild and deversified, not anything like I expected in High school. I was engaged to Larry in grade 11 then married right out of school & started to learn pretty quick how young I really was & how painful divorce was. Now I appreciate my kids & hubby so much, photography is my hobby..... Gypsy is our little dog who goes everywhere with us and life is good as long as we keep it simple. My hubby sold Real Estate on and off for 28 years and I managed a private Post Office. We are both retired now. Do some volunteer work for 10 y...Expand for more
rs now, with Choices (Thelma Box & Dr Phil's) a Change-your-life 5 day seminar.... We have learned that no matter how "much" we ever had, and we were blessed in early 80's to have MUCH in R.E. investments, that when rough times hit, family is all you have...2 times a cancer survivor I see value in different things than other people. Always looking forward to November, loading the RV and heading south to our Baja home. Been going to Baja winters now since 1977. As we headed south a couple of years ago we went by and checked out Van Nuys High, took photos, seemed pretty different than I recall. It made me feel my age, (the high fences and security guard walking around on a sunday!) I'm gonna be 66 in Nov and not feeling old without a mirror to look into, but I am approaching WISE, and that is a little scarry.... Does anyone from high school remember me? I feel like I was both - always a say-what-you-mean trouble maker and a fly on the wall. I was either in Miss Ables office or staying out of sight, felt like I never fit in. I do remember the people who were nice to me though.. Partly because of this (& cancer) I home schooled My 2 older kids on the road and they are both University Grads today.... Well I remember Meredith as being friendly to me and yet a smart chick! I think I was always trying to prove to the Teachers that I could go one-on-one with them. Always fighting some kind of war with them. I have fought alot of wars in this life. Now I try to focus on fighting for the unloveable and their rights to know and feel loved. O.k. I am going into a whole different area.... Why am I writing this anyhow????? (Now that is the real me)
