Sandra's Story

English was always a favorite subject of mine, which was really a seque into my journalism "career" as editor-in-chief of the Tartan. I had great aspirations, the brains, but really no real support from my family. Consequently, after high school I sort of drifted. I attended SAC the summer after graduation, then enrolled at Texas A&I, but quickly lost interest and decided to go out into the real world. I moved to New Jersey to live by my mother, stayed there for a year, then moved back home to Texas. Not long after that I moved to Louisiana to "babysit" a friend I had made at A&I whose husband worked offshore and was gone much of the time. During that period of my life I met my first husband. We had 2 children. The marriage ended in divorce. A few years later I met my second husband, who turned out to be all that I could have ever hoped for. I know that God sent him to me so that I would become to understand love -- and get a glimpse and understanding of the love that Jesus has for us. That prepared me for what was to lie ahead when God decided to take him from me. Now I live with the peace and comfort of knowing that my life is in God's hands and that He is there to care for me and provide for my every need. Essentially, at this stage of my life, He is now my husband. He has put me in the position where I have no other to turn to but Him. Fortunately for me, and for all of us if we only trust Him, He is totally dependable to provide all of us with our needs. He has given me wonderful new friends, a church I love, a good job, and I trust Him to continue to put everything in place as circumstances change, even now in this uncertain ec...Expand for more
onomy. I would like to be able to retire from my job with the Postal Service, but am not in the position to do so right now; I guess one of the main reasons is that I am not willing to be without health insurance and I am not old enough for Medicare. I am healthy now, but reality is that as one gets older he/she is more prone to something going awry. I am not looking for another husband. I can't imagine starting the process all over again of builing a relationship with someone -- being a part of the "dating scene". Ugh! Most of the time I enjoy my "aloneness", and I am NOT lonely. I am not a drinker, although I will take an occasional glass of wine. I have friends who enjoy the hobby of winemaking. I don't smoke (I quit in '89 after 20 years). I still love the music from the 60's. I would like to learn to do ballroom dancing -- I love watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars". "24" is also one of my favorite TV programs and I am so glad it is finally back this year. I love watching The Food Network -- and I am a pretty good cook myself. I try to have family and/or friends over a few times a month for dinner, when my work schedule allows it. Recently I had 22 friends over for brisket and spaghetti & meatballs. I don't like to shop, as a rule. I try to order online when I can. I will be attending a Bible study on the book of Galatians soon. I am looking forward to all the activities my church is planning as we come into the Easter season. The church I attend is non-denominational. I tired of "religion". All I want to know is Jesus. Well, that's about all for now. Email me if you want to know more.
