Sandy's Story
Hmmm...that I really can talk! I'm not shy like I was in high school. Ohhhh...I wasn't shy around and with my close friends; but, most people that I have run into remember me as "that girl that smiled all the time". Wellll...I still smile but I also TALK now too. I've learned a lot about high school NOW that I'm older. If I would have known that "in five years, most of what happens, or, who is popular, or, who liked who, it really won't matter". I remember well telling my daughter that.
Although not a teacher at Muncie Central, Mr. James Land was an English teacher at McKinley. He was my fav teacher, he believed in me, I still appreciate him. And, I did get to see Mr. Putt, my sixth grade teacher at Riley. He taught me a great deal and I appreciated him too.
The wildest thing I ever did in high school was ride in Ginny (Conner's) Volkswagon with HER driving it! OH!! And the time me and Marcella got locked in a restroom in a boondock town....DURING school hours. Where were we? WHO REMEMBERS THAT??
My first crush.....now...how would I ever know what happen...Expand for more
ed to him.
I got the nickname in high school "Marriage Counselor". It's not far from what I do in Case Management now. How ironic is that? I would want my old friends to remember that I love to laugh, and that I was a trusting friend.
To be truly happy, where, doing what, with whom? NOW what kind of question is that for a single lady??
My biggest surprise is that I am where I am, doing what I am.....
Hmm..One do-over, what would I do differently? There's probably a couple of things but I do not like looking back with regrets. Everything has brought some type of valuable lesson for me.
I don't do weird jobs. I've liked them all.
I left Indiana in 1972. I went to California, stayed for awhile. From California, I went to Virginia, then Connecticut, then to Mississippi, back to California, returned to Indiana in 1989 - - - left for all the right reasons, and now I'm in Kentucky. Where will I be tomorrow? Who knows?
My greatest news of late is that my precious, wonderful, beautiful daughter and her husband are expecting a child. I couldn't be more thrilled.
