Sandy's Story

Life I graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH in April, 2006, with a BA in Ecology and Peace Studies (Environmental Studies major). I am currently living in Auckland, New Zealand with my parents, and my cat will be arriving soon. My partner lives in Berkeley, CA, so I still have strong roots there. School My biggest crush and the teacher who inspired me the most in high school were the same person; my world history teacher from freshman year. I liked high school a lot more than most people did, because Berkeley High School is diverse enough to allow all people to feel like they belong somewhere. So many memories, so little time to share them. College Antioch was so much fun! I went to so many Antioch parties, where I could dress up (which I loved), get drunk, and dance all I wanted. I loved my last co-op the most. I went to Paterson, NJ to work at an after-school program that was awesome. I met some of the most amazing friends I'll ever have at Antioch. Workplace Well, it went like this: Animal care and education, retail, retail, retail, movie theater, nonprofit, nonprofit, retail, movie theater again, after-school program, supervising developmentally disabled people, retail. Notice a pattern? Oh, retail, how I love you. My three favorite jobs: working at the movie theater under a cool boss (once he quit and another boss came into the picture, I wasn't so fond of that job anymore), working at an after-school program with awesome kids and a supervisor who treated me like a niece (plus her son is my favorite kid in the world), and finally working at a video rental store, with really, really cool coworkers. Oh, and the best boss I ever had ;)
