Sandy's Story
After graduation I worked for the Travelers as a sec'y,& for the Chandler Evans Corp as a military parts expediter. Decided to go to nursing school, & have been in the medical field ever since 1972. Married, 2 children (son, John; daughter, Taiya). Divorced & married my very 1st boyfriend from my teens. THAT didn't work out! Moved to FL almost 20 yrs ago from Htfd. Met a wonderful man at the USF College of Medicine where I worked in the Dept of Surgery for 7 yrs. That was 18 yrs ago and we will celebrate our 16th anniversary March 19th, which is also my birthday! I told him that he is one tough guy because I usually recycle husbands every 10 yrs! *wink* Finally living in The Villages, Ctl Fl in my dream home!
My daughter has been in the Air Force for 16 yrs, as an air traffic controller/air field manager. She is married to a retired AF guy who has grown kids, so Taiya has opted for a career and no kids. John went to the Air Force Academy and during boot camp training had a massive stroke. He learned to walk & talk again, graduated from USF with 2 degrees, and now...Expand for more
works at an Army base in IN, as an ammunitions specialist. He is married, with no children either. My husband brought his son, Nat, into the marriage. He is divorced, living with his girlfriend in Charlotte, NC, and is a sound engineer for the NBA team, the Charlotte Bobcats. No kids for him, either! Poor us, no grandkids to spoil!
Currently, I am semi-retired, & after taking a year off from working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, I will begin looking for a part-time job here in The Villages, as I realize that with my Type A personality, & too much energy for my own good, I am not ready to fully retire.
I have been very fortunate to have traveled all over the world, my favorite place being Rome, Italy! I could easily live there & plan to take language lessons. Did not do well in French class at HPHS....the teacher & I just did not get along! I hated gym class and that teacher was a mess! :-(
Both parents have passed away, however, I still have most of my family in CT, and owe them a way overdue visit. Would certainly love to see some of my old classmates!
