Sandy's Story
Life
I attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where I was on the Flag Line for the Marching Razorback Band. I loved those four years! When graduation came in 1983, I wanted to stay in that area, but they have such a big job pool that they nearly always hire experienced teachers. I applied at a small school in Cotter, AR, a town I had only been through a time or two when floating the Buffalo River. However, Phil Sentell and Angie (Byrd) Sentell lived there, so at least I had someone I knew living there. When I called to tell them I had gotten the job, Angie told me they were moving back to Beebe. Great. I was scared to death, but came over here anyway expecting to get that one year's experience and head back to the Home of the Hogs.

s beautiful. Life is calm; life is good. I can't believe how Beebe Schools have exploded - a drive through town last year necessitated three trips by the campus. I hate that the old high school is gone (burned? tornado?), but the new campus is quite impressive.
I'm married and have two stepsons, both of whom I taught before marrying their dad, and three cats. My high school experiences give me plenty of fodder for my English classes full of seniors: I make sure to let them know that while homework, etc., gets old, they truly are in a special time of their lives and that they should enjoy it and take advantage of the opportunities they are given. With only 3 months until their graduation, they look very somber when I play "Glory Days" and make them read the words as they listen.
I'd like to hear from some of my friends from the Class of '79.
