Sara's Story

Since graduating, I attended Schilling/Douglas School of Hair Design in Newark, DE where I passed my boards for cosmetologist and later I went back for my managers license. I never traveled too far from Oxford. I married for the 1st time at 30 and moved to Quarryville, I found myself divorced after 5 years were I moved to Lititz Pennsylvania for a few years to heal my broken heart after which I migrated back to familiar territory -Oxford. Being back in Oxford brought me to my husband, Dave Kirk. Mutual friends of ours introduced us and it took off from there. Even though we both knew of each other in high school we traveled in the different circles. Dave and I were married Feb. 6, 2004 in Key Largo, FL out in the Gulf of Mexico on his sister and brother-in-laws boat (the wedding was relaxing - if you can say that about a wedding - and calm just the 5 of us). I became step-mom to 5 dogs and 2 cat; DON'T LAUGH! It's not, funny they are: Jake, Barnabas, Abby, Liddy and Fruitcake (I said don't laugh you'll hurt poor Fruity's feelings)that's the dogs as for the cats they are Mom and Cujo. It is said somewhere - "Those who have children do and those that don't have pets". Ok, you can say that I coined the phrase. It's a funny farm at the house with the "Kirk Kids", more like the Animal Kingdom. Dave and I enjoy the relaxing atmosphere we have created with boating on the bay. Once the ...Expand for more
season starts we find ourselves on the water just about every weekend - on the rainy days we still get to the boat even if we don't take off on a trip. The rocking of the boat is very soothing like therapy, no phones, no dogs, no cats. Other then boating we live a quiet simple life (we don't have cable t.v. - we are in trouble come June 2009) we only get 3 channels, further more we don't even have the internet (I have to use a wireless card in my laptop to access the internet then I have to sit in a specific spot for it to work - oh, well it works for us). Dave has worked very hard all his life and two an a half years ago he started up a company "KMP Mechanical" along with a partner and they are doing well - I never had any doubts or worries for him, Dave is confident in everything he does and I just knew I didn't need to worry. I am so very proud of him. As for my work, I'm currently working for a Lawn Care company in their accounting department. I've maintained my cosmetologist/managers license which I am currently working part-time on Saturdays at "Chic Salon by Chong" at the intersection of State Road and 472 South just outside of Oxford. If you are interested in contacting me you can reach me at: thehairycoconut at gmail dot com Please do not be offended if I do not reply in a timely fashion, remember I have a wireless card and have to sit in a specific spot for it to work, LOL
