Sarah's Story

Hi, Since graduated , I've gone to Suffolk County Community College and graduated in 1978 getting an Associates Degree in General Studies, was married for a short time. I worked for a NY State Agency for 22 years. Since I have a Hidden Disability- Epilepsy, I had to retire early. I had Brain Surgery (Left Temporal Lobectomy) in August of 2000 and was "Seizure Free" for almost 8 years. I was married a short time and unfortunately I lost my husband and became a young widow. I never had any children but I did have a cat for over 19 yrs. Unfortunately I had to put it to sleep since she got very sick on me. I Loved Puss cat so very much and in the nineteen years that I had her, she was able to deal with all I went through in my life. She was a Tabby Cat and didn't weigh more ...Expand for more
then 6lbs. I can't believe that it's almost three years since I had to put her to sleep. In December of 2009, I adopted a Domestic Short Hair Cat who I named "Binky"."Terror" is his middle name. I can't believe that he weighs almost 12lbs. Half as big as Pusscat was. I've been an Advocate for SILO- Suffolk Independent Living Organization,- where I won VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD. I was in Network For Women With Disabilities. I am a volunteer for Innersight - Advocate for People With Epilepsy. I've also gone to meetings having to do with both Legislature issues especially for people with disabillities and have also gone to Public Transportation Meetings (Hearings). I look at that maybe I wasn't to work any more so I can help others in not going through what I want through.
