Sarah's Story

Life Well hello all. This is the former Sarah Morrison, now Sarah Morrison Stephens. I graduated from Haughton High in 1986. I then attended Louisiana Tech University studying Journalism and graduated in 1990. Within a year of graduation I was the managing editor of the Jennings Daily News in Jennings, Louisiana. I met and married my husband, Dr. Mel Stephens, in 1993. Our son, Charlie was born in 1995 while we were living in Coffee Springs, Alabama. I was the editor of the Enterprise Ledger. In 1996 we moved to Louisville, Mississippi where I served as the editor of the Winston County Journal and Mel opened up his own practice. In 1998 we moved to Roma...Expand for more
nce, Arkansas, where I worked in Cabot as the managing editor for five newspapers owned by Magie Family Newspapers. During this time I also started up my own newspaper and kept it running for two years until we moved back to Louisiana for a short time. I was soon offered another editor position in Ennis, Texas and we stayed there until September of 2002 when we moved to Montgomery, Alabama. Mel has joined the Air Force as a Major and served three years. He was diagnosed with diabetes and medically discharged. He now works with USDA. I am semi-retired, but work part time for the Millbrook Independent as associate editor. If you want to know more, just ask.
