Sarah's Story
Wow! 50 years already?! So easy to reach back to some great times and recall the highlights of a life well lived. The list is long and rich. If I knew then how my life would unfold I’d have taken out more insurance!
I’ve always been adventurous and slightly reckless. Growing-up my family was wrapped pretty tight around their own issues and I didn’t particularly stand-out. Being insanely curious and over confident I always kept an eye out for opportunities to bypass family rules against free rein living. The doors to adventure were often left unguarded and I was a frequent traveler. Early on I knew I couldn’t bear the thought of being 50 and not grabbing for the brass ring! for something more than mere survival and couldn’t wait to get out into the world as soon as I graduated.
Ah, but the roads I travel are rich and exhilarating with lots of blind turns, peaks and valleys. I’ve never shied away from what life presented whether from my youth salmon fishing in the Pacific, working sheep and cattle in Northern CA, my education, and 3 years in VISTA continuing through my mid-years when it was about physical endurance contests, spiritual exploration, marriage, travel, career building and community. Now I focus on mind/body fitness, creative pursuits, being with people and doing things that inspire, but most of all appreciating the here and now.
Still living the dream, so much sweeter with my beloved of 35 years who has always had his hands full.
