Ken's Story

Life Married young, two great children, hard work and a successful business in student transportation. Was a workaholic till a couple of years ago and thought I was on top of the world but then a divorce knocked me off my feet. Now I am living in Naples Florida, a true tropical paradise. My 21 year old son has moved to Naples and works on the beach, hopefully in 9 months my 18 year old daughter will follow. I am starting a new beginning and have already got my Captains License and driving a Parasail boat part time off the beach of Marco Island. I still own my school bus contracting business in Nixa Missouri but my brother Scott and longtime friends Donna and Lloyd run it. I am currently preparing to take the Florida state Contractors trades test to file for a General Contractors License to do business in Florida. I achieved every goal early in life and found that money, homes, fast cars, trucks, motocycles and toys cannot compare or fill the void of the human relationship. The loss of a loved one has slowed me down and caused me to take a deep look within myself. I do have many material objects. ulf of Mexico, a beautiful 42' sailboat, motorcyles, waverunners, cars, and trucks. My children, family and friends mean most to me. I learned in my walk that quality time with loved ones can never be replaced with material possessions. I have learned that death is final and divorce leaves scars but it is how we deal with those wounds and the attitude one has if we are to live or die in the past. I have always been positive and to learn from the past instead of living in it has help me move forward to the next stage of life. I believe in forgiving instead of blaming and loving instead of hating. It takes two to make a marriage and two to destroy it. Oh well now it's sunshine, hurricanes, salt air, beaches and palm trees. Life is beautiful and I am living a dream that many dream of. I am looking forward and excited to a sailing adventure with my son starting in Dec/Jan 2007. Starting in Naples to Key West, the Bahamas, then south to the Virgin Islands, maybe Barbadosthe over to Costa Rica, Belize, up north to Isla Mujeres and the Yucatan then back home before next years hurricane season. I would rather live in Florida and deal with hurricanes anyday than in Missouri and hate winters and worry about tornados.
