Scott's Story
Update 2019:
I left Colorado in Oct, 2017 and retired to Tucson, AZ. Mom still lives there, as well as my brother. Once I had no income I noticed how quickly the savings can be spent! I started as a Lyft driver 1 year ago, so I can work when I want and I drive all over town. I also started taking social security once I hit 62. Last year I travelled alot on my Harley, but no so much this year. My health is good, I really enjoy 70 degree winter days in Tucson, but the summers are too hot. I look forward to any opportunity to catch up with old friends. I am on Facebook.
Life
Since graduating with a B.S. degree in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University in 1991, I have done several things jobwise and lived several places. For the last 15 years I have been in Avon and Eagle, Colorado (just west of Vail) and am a warehouse manager for a wholesale plumbing supplier. NOT what I expected to be doing, but it is dependable work, with good pay and benefits. Unlike most residents here, I did not come to ski, I came for the work. I had been in western North Carolina working in a group home, working at summ...Expand for more
er camps, working on a surveying crew, laying carpet, and supervising wayward young adults at a job corps center. I couldn't find something steady and satisfying, although I loved teaching children how to kayak at camp. I did this for 11 summers. One great benefit of summer camp employment was that my daughter got to spend time with me there. I try to get together with her often, but that works out to be 1-2 times a year. We do have fun however! She graduated from ASU (same as me) in 2010, and is now pursuing a doctorate in pharmacy.
I enjoy the outdoors: riding the motorcycle, hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting. I like to read and see movies. I think I'm a pretty good guy and I'm still looking for a woman who wants to be with me. I say this, but don't know if I really mean it. It is easy to be alone, but I do love women! Everyone thinks I'm younger than I really am and I feel pretty good about myself.
The newest thing in my life is my new home! I moved in Sep 2, 2010. I am right along I-70 and the Colorado River, just east of Glenwood Canyon in a small community called Dotsero. Finally I am a homeowner!
