I have now been with the Michigan Department of Treasury for almost 14 years. My wife Kendel and I have two girls, Elise (10) and Lydia (4). We live in the country around Lansing, between DeWitt, Laingsburg, and St. Johns. Since the last reunion we completed our adoption of Lydia in 2010. She was born in central China with albinism, which makes her Asian decent somewhat difficult to recognize at first. We spent two weeks in various parts of China completing the adoption and really enjoyed the food. Lydia has adjusted well to life in rural Clinton County and is really looking forward to kindergarten in the fall. Our oldest daughter has had an eventful past year. There is reportedly a Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." Well the past year has been interesting. As school let out in June 2012 Elise began to experience headaches. By late June she was also having bouts with vomitting to go along with the headaches. In late July she was diagnosed with a brain tumor near her cerebellum and brain stem.
