Scott's Story
Life
The years since KHS have been nothing less than exciting. I have recieved my BS (Cortland) and MS (South Carolina) both in education. I worked in Oklahoma and Baltimore as a college administrator.
I have since left higher education and am pursuing a career in film/tv production. I have worked on such productions as "The West Wing", "National Treasure" and HBO's "The Wire". Most recently, I worked on "Body of Lies" and Ang Lee's next movie, "taking Woodstock." I have recently been accepted into the Director's Guild of America as a 2nd Assistant Director. My end goal is to become a producer. Right now, I am loving every minute of the career change.
Workplace
I started out with getting my graduate degree in College Student Administration which led to a job with the University of Oklahoma Athletic department. I worked as the Assistant Coordinator for the the Athletic Departments residential life. I worked there from August '95-May '97.
The summer of '97 got me back a little closer to home as I traveled back East to work at the Univ...Expand for more
ersity of Maryland, Baltimore County. For the next 6 years I would work in the Residential Life Office as an Assistant Director for Residential Education. My duties included being the disciplinary officer for the department as well as the coordinator for Freshman Week events.
It was during my time at UMBC that I became interested in extra work on movies and television. For those who dont know, and "extra" is a person on screen who has no lines but adds some atmosphere to the scene. I did this for "The West Wing", "The Replacements", "Minority Report", and "The Recruit".
I eventually got the opportunity to work behind the camera as a production assistants (PA). PAs are part of the Assistant Director (AD) team who run the set making sure the movie or tv show makes its scheduled amount of filming for the day. After doing this part time for two years, I realized this was my true calling. On July 11, 2003, I worked my last day at UMBC. The following Monday would be my first day in my new career shoes. So far, I have loved every minute of it!
