Scott's Story
after high school I went in the army in September 1975 and was a tank crewman with the 3rd ArmorDivisoin, in Kurch-Goens, Germany. until September 1978 when I got out of the Army and enlisted in the Navy in September 1978 and was a cook, and a hospital corpsman/combat medic I was asigned to nort atlantic submarine fleet, Holly Loch,Scotland. UK. where I was aboard the submarine tender ship the USS HUNLEY AS-31 & a Poseidon class ballistic muscular submarine USS JAMES MONROE SSBN-622. I LATER BECAME THE PERSONAL COOK FOR THE SUBMARINE FLEET COMMANDER, WHERE I remained for the remainder of that enlistment, I was then offerd a position as food services chief at the enlisted dinning facility at the Pentagon,in Washington DC. and then was chosen as one of 4 chief orthodoxies to cook at Camp David, and cooked for President Jimmy Carter, and Several foreign dignitaries. of which I stayed there 4years and. requested transfer to Keflavik, Iceland at naval air station Keflavik. where I remained until the start of operations De...Expand for more
sert Shield & later Desert Storm, where I was a signed to graves and registration and escorted the remains of all 6 Minnesota veterans killed in action and from a couple non combat deaths do to a training accident involving two helicopters that collided in mid air. I was medically retired after I was injured in Mogadishu, Somali while attached to a marine recon team as a navy corpsman (combat medic). and was given a full medical retirement. I retired as a senior chief petty officer ( E - 8 ). after the military I owned my own landscaping company. I'm now completely retired and spend most of my time painting wildlife mostly waterfowl and upland game birds.as of April 272015 I've been happily married for 13 years. we have no children never wanted any neither of us. but we do have 3 dogs & 4 cat's who all play and sleep together cat's and dogs one big pile. I also produce my own line of wooden duck calls all made from exotic hard woods,I turn out the pieces on my wood turning lathe and assemble and hand tune each one.
