Scott's Story
Life
After high school I spent a year in Medford at Merritt Davis College. The summer after high school Uncle Sam decided he wanted me so I enlisted in the Air Force in 72. After tech school in Mississippi, I was stationed at a Radar station on a hill north of North Bend for 3 years.
I was married in 1974 and had a son (David) later that year. I got out of the Air Force in 1976 and went to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore California as an electronic technician.
I got divorced in 1985 and got married again in 86. In 91 my son Jeff was born. He is a junior this year and my wife and I spend our time doing as much as possible with him. He is an A student and participates in a lot of school activities, plays, choir, basketball. He is planning on an engineering career and at the present time he is planning on attending Montana State.
I retired from the Lab on July 1st,2007 and I am just a bum around the house right now. During my work at the Lab I spent one winter working at MIT in Boston and 1 summer in Novosibirsk, USSR working at the Siberian branch of Nuclear Physics. I also had may work related trips to England during the lat...Expand for more
e 80's and early 90's. I spent the last 10 years working on building the largest laser in the world being built at Livermore. It is called NIF (National Ignition Facility).
We enjoy hunting, fishing, prospecting, and just about anything outdoors. Jeff and I take an anual hunting trip each year in late October to Montana which is just about our favorite place.
My son Jeff just graduated from High School. He was the valdictorian and is headed to Montana State next year to study Mechanical Engineering.
update: 2011
Suzy and I celebrated 25 years today. Jeff is a junior at Montana State and now plans on going to Med School after he gets his BS in Mechanical Engineering. My oldest son David is now working at LLNL on the same project that I retired from.
update: 2013 Jeff graduated from Montana State and is now applying to Med School.
I had my right knee replaced in December of 2016 and had my left knee replaced in July 2018. I now have two straight legs for the first time in my life. Its a strange feeling when my knees acutually touch and I am taller. Looking forward to getting back on the golf course to see if it improves my game. One can only hope.
