Scott's Story
College
After graduating Reagan in 1977, I went to UT Austin. I stayed in Jester Dorm for my freshman year. Now those were some party times. I whole floor of engineering students with 1/2 of our windows facing the girl's dorm. I think a lot of my classmates were into star gazing because they had high powered telescopes in their rooms, strangely aimed at the windows of the girls dorm. Then I moved off campus and commuted to school. More partying years with lots of keg parties, but I managed to make it through and get my degree as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Workplace
After graduating UT in 1982, I got a job with the Texas Highway Department doing prog...Expand for more
ramming of data collection equipment and developing a pavement management system. Then in 1998 the City of Austin came looking for help with their pavement management systems. I worked for the City of Austin for 7 years, helping them bring the streets up to a better condition. Then a couple months ago, the county came looking for help with their pavement management system. So now I'm taking care of the roads in Travis County. And the best thing about this job is I get to check out the parks & roads by the lakes from time to time. Pace Bend Park (Paleface Park) is much improved from back in the 70's, when it used to be all dirt roads. I'm looking forward to summer getting here.
