Scott's Story

Life After High School, I attended Northern Illinois University. I am not sure what it was, but something motivated me to do the craziest thing. I tried out for the football at NIU and ended playing as a walk-on for a Division 1 football team!! 1983 was a special year for football in Illinois---especially for NIU. The Huskies went on to a 10-2 record, winning the conference championship with an incredible victory over the nationally ranked Toledo Rockets and received a bowl invitation beating Cal State Fullerton in the California Bowl. As a member of the of the 1983 Mid-American Conference and California Bowl Champion football team I earned a championship ring and a decade later, an induction into the NIU Huskies sports hall of fame. I did many other adventurous things in during my college years from running for a seat on the local town council to teaching Hebrew school to youngsters in Rockford. But, the highlight of my collegiate career was probably my internship working for the Israeli Knesset (parliament) where my research on auto fatalities he...Expand for more
lped enact much needed seat-belt legislation in that country. With all of my extracurricular activities, I somehow managed to graduate with a BA in Political Science. After graduation, I moved to Philadelphia and pursued a career working with non-profit organizations. After two years, I moved back to Chicago to pursue a new career as a Graphic Designer. I worked for some of the top design and advertising agencies in the Chicago area--but my "artistic talent" was quite limited. In the mid 1990's I changed careers to computer technology. I spent many years working running my own computer consulting firm specializing in servicing and supporting the Macintosh computer platform (we also do Windows). I gave up most of my clients and finally got an "honest" job working as a Multimedia Technology consultant with Abbott Labs. And when I am not busy working or commuting, I pursue one of my other loves which is Jewish studies. My favorite subject is Chassidus--the esoteric teachings of the Torah that emphasizes that everything we do, we should do with joy.
