Scott's Story
Hello to all of you from The Day That Used To Be! (Neil Young)!
In 2012, I began visiting the friendly confines of Door Co. WI, and decided to move he in 2013 to pursue a career in photography, imaging software development, and to address my longing for a chance to experience one of most incredible natural conservatories, the best freshwater sailing in the US, as well as life in a small town. Door County has more waterfront footage than any county in the US. With a population of 9,144, my home of Sturgeon Bay is a gorgeous town with an incredibly rich maritime history. She boast 3 draw bridges, a booming shipbuilding industry, ice-breakers, & a fleet of working tugs. Door Co. is an artistic sanctuary for poets, painters, musicians and other pursuing the development of their artistic dreams.
I sail with a most incredible group of people out of the Ephraim Yacht Club (eyc.org) - home to the oldest contiguously-held sailing regatta in the US, & commissioned a custom Flying Scot to be built to experience the joy of sailing th...Expand for more
e pristine waters of Eagle Harbor.
An accidental career in packet networking exposed me to 44 US States, 31 countries & years in Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Jose & Munich. This roaming helped me realize that access to the outdoors & pristine natural environments is closely tied to my happiness and ability to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. I thank my parents for incredibly good genes, as this old man (now 55) has now covered 35K miles running, 34K miles biking & a few thousand miles swimming. I was never the athlete that Fred Linder & close friend Don Chapman were, but they, along with many others inspired me! The Bay Area, Colorado & Door Co. comprise my short list of places to call home. And now that one can work remotely from anywhere, the charm of this northern clime & incredible nature sanctuary is now a place I can call home.. my "Tranquility Base."
Wishing you all much fuel in the tank.. Long May You Run!
Blue Skies,
