Scott's Story
Looking back, it's interesting where the currents of life have taken us all in the years since CHS.
Following college, I earned a Master's in History, then - in one of those indiscretions of youth - tried to get through law school on two or three hours of study a week, an enjoyable, but not very productive schedule which resulted in me flunking out.
After that, I had probably the best time of my life during a two year stint as a Congressional aide in Washington, capped with a trans-America bicycle trip from the coast of Oregon to Virginia Beach.
It was during that trip that I recognized my dual passion for photography and taking off large chunks of time to travel. However, also recognizing my equally passionate affinity for eating on a daily basis, I thrashed around for something - aside from photography - that I could do for a living which would allow for both...Expand for more
flexibility and a little money.
Real estate fit the bill, and after several years in the business, I started my own brokerage in 1991 in Arlington, Virginia. - Real estate and travel photography have balanced out quite well, and I pretty much split my time each year between them. - (Google; LSSHELTONPHOTOGRAPHY.)
Realizing, though, that a wife and kids wouldn't mesh too well with extended trips, I've never married. And having been given the old heave-ho over that very issue more than once or twice through the years, I'm quite fortunate to be in a long-term relationship with a great gal, Patricia; a true rarity in this world...an American woman who can fall in love with you without trying to change or domesticate you.
So...all 'n all, those currents have landed me on a sunny shore, and in my presently undomesticated state, as the saying goes, "life is good."
